Calling all military members - Halfords Trade Card
I was reliably informed by some of my colleagues that halfords where offering a trade card to all MOD trained engineering/technician staff. This card entitles you to some pretty hefty discounts on maintenance parts and tools (but not tuning parts).
Anyway I went in to my local Halfords today and presented my ID card (engineering qualifications in tow, but not required in the Watford Branch) and was given a trade card in return.
My calcuim battery was suddenly reduced from £82.99 to £59.52.
Well worth the 20 minutes of form filling

Hi, im a avionics mech at Monarch Airlines, and we had a halfords rep come in to work to give out trade cards.Any aircraft engineer can get them now. It's well worth it, wiper blades in particular, was £16 a set, down to £4!!!
All you need is a work ID that proves your an engineer,i think this works for many trades.

I would advocate to be a bit economical with the truth, as aircraft techies may find it hard to convince them that we need to get bits from them. I was a bit vague with my application as the branch near me, wasn't quite so forth coming with handing the cards out to everyone from work.
Still well worth the 20 mins effort though.

All Watford wanted was my military ID. I had my course certificates with me but they didn't even ask to see them.
