caudal epidural injection..
finally had mine on Saturday. when i left the hospital my knees were numb and i couldn't feel my private parts either
for those of you that don't know, its an injection into your spinal nerve root guided by xray to help with the back and leg pain
last night i was in agony and today i have all my pain back in my back and leg
i have been told that it can take up to 10 days to work.........
expect the worse and anything else is a bonus

I have had one and yes it can take a few days to work but mine was only about 20% better after. i was numb from knees to chest which made knowing when to use the loo intresting for about 8hrs lol

my cocix(sp) is very painful i have two holes there. the nurse put the ****** up me, for want of a better word, when she said the anesthetic was needed as the needle was so big
i have really bad pain in the lower right side of my back, it wasn't there before saturday, and my calf muscle is hurting like hell. 8 more days for it to work

Hey SS...
When Stu had his done 2 years ago, he was told it can take up to 6 weeks to work - something to do with the hydrocortisone part of the injection lasting for that long IIRC so the effects of the injection won't really been known till 6 weeks have passed..thats when they assessed him to see if he a) needed a further epidural or b) surgery.. unfortunately he had to have b done
BTW the injection itself can cause a further flare up of symptoms prior to it (hopefully) settling down
did the consultant give you any pain meds??

Had this done around 10 times every 2 - 3 days..... had chemotherapy injected. I used to **** myself. You'll be fine, the pain is weird at first and the thought of something foreign going into a sensitive area is scary, but you'll be fine.
