Unhappy caudal epidural injection..

finally had mine on Saturday. when i left the hospital my knees were numb and i couldn't feel my private parts either

for those of you that don't know, its an injection into your spinal nerve root guided by xray to help with the back and leg pain

last night i was in agony and today i have all my pain back in my back and leg

i have been told that it can take up to 10 days to work.........

expect the worse and anything else is a bonus

Most threads I read of yours are about awful things happening to you!
Do you really get all the bad luck?

Hey SS...

When Stu had his done 2 years ago, he was told it can take up to 6 weeks to work - something to do with the hydrocortisone part of the injection lasting for that long IIRC so the effects of the injection won't really been known till 6 weeks have passed..thats when they assessed him to see if he a) needed a further epidural or b) surgery.. unfortunately he had to have b done

BTW the injection itself can cause a further flare up of symptoms prior to it (hopefully) settling down

did the consultant give you any pain meds??

i was told that the effects last up to 6 weeks, if your damage is minor then a dics can repair itself while the inflammation has been reduced. i am definitely having a flare up, and i did wash my hands properly

Had this done around 10 times every 2 - 3 days..... had chemotherapy injected. I used to **** myself. You'll be fine, the pain is weird at first and the thought of something foreign going into a sensitive area is scary, but you'll be fine.
