I currently have my ipod connected via a 3.5mm headphone jack, split out to two phono plugs, which feed into my head unit,s aux input.

Ive been looking at a new head unit, but its a bit lacking on the input side of things, however it does have a front 3.5mm input jack.

has anyone used one of these front 3.5mm input jacks for there ipod?

are they any good? is the output limited in any way?

the only reason i want to change, is that the the new unit has bluetooth, so i can get a hands free solution.

I bought a head unit with front usb & sd card slot, and loads of inputs and outputs, but to be honest other than the the odd trial with the Sd slot, i hardly use the other functions.

Pioneer do proper iPod connectivity with most of their head units via an IP bus add-on module. Which allows it to be controlled via the head-unit or infra-red remote (or steering remote if you can get a compaitble interface kit).

They also do a unit that supports bluetooth. So Pioneer bluetooth headunit + ipod add-on module and you should be sorted

Actually: this Head unit has the ipod control built in - just needs the connector: DEH-P85BT Pioneer Car Audio - CD Player - Car Entertainment
