Default Green or Brown, I want a rebate if your wrong.

So having just crawled in front of the heater from the garage outside which seem to be colder then my freezer I am left wondering....

This winter seems a lot like the ones from 10 years ago, cold, snow at easter, bit blowy etc.

Now just suppose in 10 years we find out that actually "climate change" does not exist OR that CO2 is not actually a notable factor in it..

How big will my "green tax" rebate be?

You see the clever thing they have done is to stop calling it global warming, and call it climate change. Now whether it is hot or cold they can hammer us.

Yep I had noticed the change in term!!

Just as a matter of point, if I personally wanted to warm up the earths climate.... who says I cannot, or thats its even wrong to do so?

It strikes me that I am being effectively fined for something on which there is no law?!

Sunspots cause short term climate change, every 5-15yrs it changes. Doubt whether my car has any effect on the sun

Edit - great world global warming swindle?

The 11-Year Sunspot Cycle - Solar wind is the only weather that counts.

The Sunspot Cycle

The environmentalist nutters won't tell you that of course..... The real inconvenient truth.

I did a Google search on glaciers that are growing rather than shrinking - which some are. Can you guess why glaciers are apparently growing instead of shrinking? Yes, that's right its because of GLOBAL WARMING. Increased snowfall and decreased summer temperatures caused by GLOBAL WARMING.

I've had enough of these lying CC cyunts to be honest and I'll do whatever the hell I like from now on.

I think the word 'some' is the important one here.

The report does say that most glaciers and icefields are shrinking.

I don't know why they're shrinking, and I don't agree with every hot spell and cold snap being blamed on GW.

Well it is possible, especially in Europe. If warming leads to more cold arctic ice melt entering the Atlantic ocean, cooling it, it is possible for more cooler "weather" as a result.

The IPCC is a political animal and should be treated with less respect than a bug tucking into some of your claret.

It does not matter. The "debate" is over, according to the "powers that be", Al Gore and particularly, the British Govn't. Or have you been living under a rock?

Agreed.

I´ve decided to drive to work in 1st and 2nd gear only this week. That´s the only way to save the glaciers, apparently

Well I can be closed minded about some things, like the utter futility of having a grown up discussion here.

Why did you feel the need to edit my post? Why do you feel the need to blame me for the whole GW issue?

Apparently this is true. Any warming would have the effect of raising sea levels meaning the UK would lose the Gulf Stream warm air we have. Essentially it will be even colder and even wetter. This might be off set by the fact that large parts of the coast could quickly vanish alongside all those places that have been flooded as the water won't have anywhere to go so we should all be able to huddle together for warmth

5t.

That was a bit childish I suppose, sorry about that.

No worries.

Let's not turn discussions in personal attacks, we may have different views (maybe not as different as you may think), but different views should be respected (so long as they're not blatantly offensive obviously)

I think people on here confuse being concerned about an this issue as meaning you are a tree hugging climate-**** (if I was I wouldn't be driving a Subaru). I have young kids, is wrong for me to be concerned about their future?

This is why it's kind of difficult to dismiss this issue out of hand. The truth is I don't know the real answer, and neither does anyone else on here.

You really should read this article as it clearly demonstrates that the 'powers that be' are simply hiding the truth.

I won't go into long details here but facts are being ignored - the models being used are based upon spurious data, incorrect weightings and basically are utterly unreliable

Too true. I truely don't believe they 1) expect people to give up cars/drink/smoking or 2) want them to. They want to hit people for as much as they can and hide behind a 'cause'.

Maybe the government are branching out even more into hitting the car user to claw back some of the lost revenue from those who did give up smoking.
