Angry I don't even Bank at NatWest!

Dear NatWest Bank customer,

We have implemented security measures consistent with our internal information security practices to help us keep your information secure. These measures include technical and procedural steps to protect your data from misuse, access or disclosure, loss, alteration or destruction.

One of these security measures is NOF (NatWest Online Form) to help us to keep your personal and banking data up to date.

You should complete NOF on a regular basis.

Please complete NOF using the link below:

**Link Removed to save the Innocents**

NatWest Automated Mail Service. Please do not respond to this mail.

They MUST get some people actually completing these things ...... I suspect it would be the elderly Banking Online for the first time or the young Banking Online for the first time - just the people who can not afford to have their accounts depleted!!

I normally get Barclays ones... I always fill them in and return them with every field populated by the naughty C word...

I usually fill out each section with a paragraph of abuse, when I've got nothing better to do!

Seems your lucky Pete: I get a Phishing email allegedly from Natwest on a daily basis.

Not to forget the odd Paypal one now and again.

I wonder how many people have clicked a link in a email claiming to be from a bank and get sent to a fake replica site that records their log-in details when they try to log in

Cool

I got a very convincing one from Halifax the other day (we do bank with Halifax). Fortunately, it was to the wrong email address, and I even if it had been I would never click anyway. Very good though, all the correct graphics and statements etc.

I got the Natwest one a few weeks back, and it would look very convincing to someone who isn't particularly net savvy.

I had to laugh though because I don't bank with Natwest either.

I don't bank with Natwest, Barclays, Abbey National, Halifax or Alliance and Leicester but have had scams from all of them

Some woman rang up the other day claiming to be from Halifax, we have our mortgage with them. She insisted that I answer some security questions, I refused! She went on to say that she couldn't tell me why she was ringing untill I answered her questions, bloody cheek of it! I told her if it was that important to post the stuff out and I'll read it at my leisure, nothing's arrived yet...

Oddly enough I had the same thing...

I refused to speak to them until they identified themselves. They couldn't understand why saying "I'm from the Halifax" is not enough

I said basically the same as you: if it's something for me to decide on, send me a letter. Never got one.

I know someone whose elderly father fell for this.

Luckily the bank managed to stop the money in transit on its way to Thailand!

Hmm, actually, I've often wondered who'd be held responsible if this was to happen to someone? Is it the banks loss as they've essentially let a non-customer take a customers money, or is it the customer that has to foot the bill?

I get a load of them too, but one day got one from "Abbey Credit Card" querying a payment amount, I looked at it as I do have an Abbey credit card but the amount they were talking about didn't match any of my payments or balances so I just deleted it, but it did have to throughoughily (sp) check the e-mail and it's headers to see where it had came from just to ensure that it was fake.
My dad also has an Abbey account and get a phishing e-mail so he printed it out and took it to the bank and they basically said "yeah, thanks for letting us know, blah blah blah..."
