I have a very expensive piece of electrical equipment which people keep breaking. Pretty much anyone in the building can use it, and i'd like to limit access and log who's using it.

What i think i' looking for is some sort of card controlled (or keyfob or similar) switches linked to some sort of log. The machine can be left for up to 30 minutes at a time to do certins runs. SO the user would have to either leave the card in. or swipe it once to unlock it and then again to lock it.

Any suggestions on where to start looking or what to search for in google?
