Default steel rolling mills

anyone on here know anything about the history of them?

trying to trace the ID code

BSC AF UK

bsc is now corus, i guess uk refers to united kingdom, its the AF bit that has us stumpped, guessed its an ID code for a rolling mill, but can't find any ifno.

can anyone help?

AF: "Appleby-Frodingham", which was part of British Steel, Scunny, now Corus.

As a student I had a brilliant rainjacket marked "AF Steel Co. Scun thorpe, England."

Except without the gap in Scunny.

Took 11 minutes to get a resonse

This site is amazing for stuff like that, I've asked what I think are REALLY obscure questions and had answers and explanations within 24 hours. There's always SOMEONE who knows.
