Fine with No points??
Friend of mine was just stopped doing 50 in a 30.. well the cop reckons it was 50 he claims it wasn't. Open space, fields both sides, no other cars, hes own fault..
However.. there is not mention of points on the producer.. only that he has to pay a fine within 7 days and take his licence to the cop shop ??
Is he missing something?

AFAIK Producer doesnt usually mention points
If he has to surrender his license, then it will be off to DVLA to be endorsed
The producer should show a code though, like SP30 SP50 etc this will determine how many (if any) points will be added

This sounds all wrong.
A producer is just that, you produce your licence at the nominated cop shop within 7 days or get a fine. The producer doesn't carry the SP30 code, that would be on the NIP (see below).
If he was getting a fine for speeding then he would have got a NIP (notice of intended prosecution) either verbally since he was stopped at the time, or written if he was not. This then turns into a fixed penalty £60 fine and 3 points if you're less than 30mph over the limit or a court case and a big fine and more points if over 30 mph.
If I was guessing I'd say he was stopped because he was driving fast but the cop didn't follow him long enough to clock his speed so he gave him a producer for the licence cos he could. Hence no points and, provided he does produce the licence, no fine.
Give us more info about the alleged fine and we can tell you more.

From the days I used to get stopped, Im pretty certain it says on the producer whether it is for an offence or not
I have never had a NIP ever, only a producer and I still got points etc
