Question Which coil feed does a distributor switch?

Sorry this is a bit obscure, but I'm trying to help a mate sort out an outboard motor which has a Lucas AB13 ECU fitted. This is one of the really early ones and as far as we can work out and it sits in parallel with the points in the dizzy.

It has 2 x 12V feeds going to/from the coil. I can't work out what they both do. At a guess one is a supply but not sure what the other one does.

Do contact breakers switch the pos or the negative. Surely must be the pos, but I have a nagging doubt it the negative.

Anybody got a wiring diagram for an AB13!?
