London March
The tax collectors march in london.
Its about time they found out what its like on the receiving end.
As motorists we've been persecuted for years, now they want sympathy, I'm afraid not.

Last Christmas some little sh#t chucked a bolder trough our windscreen whilst driving. I caught the ***#ole & waited 75 mins for them to turn up.
First words out of coppers mouth "are you alright mate" to the sh#t.
One of them gets in sh#t and within minutes there all there like flies round sh#t.
Quite apt really,
"Flies round Sh#t"

Most of them are filling in pieces of paper to convince the useless top heavy beaurocracy that they are fullfilling their targets! Must get the priorities right to further the careers of their seniors.

The reason i wouldn't do it today is it must be so frustrating for the officers to be out there arresting little s**ts, just for them to be let off.

It's no fault of the police, just the way they are managed..
The Government is in ultimate control of them and how they work.
Yes, there are power-crazed **** cops but I bet the majority would choose to do their jobs differently if they could.

Depends where you work and how long you've done.
£40k-£45k in London with a few yrs in and a bit of 'selective' O/T, and not on response where O/T isn't readily available.
A friend of mine is a PC with 8 yr in the job (Met) and usually brings in £70k+.
Police out of London earn a good bit less generally. London waiting and allowance alone comes to over £7k now, and we get free travel on the tube, buses and rail to around a 70 mile radius around London.

Pasted from the met pay bit:
£27,402 on commencing service
£29,847 on completion of initial 31 weeks’ training
£31,206 after two years' probationer training.
Do about 4 yrs and the with the O/T which can be very good £40k - £45k is easily achievable without having no life or time to spend your cash,

8 years service and I'm on 29,544 in a 'non met' force.
Stilover - we pay about 9% of our salary into the penion each month, so i think we have earnd the pension pay out
The point about the march is that we were originally promised 3% every year. This has never been given - and this year it was 2.5%. This will not be back dated and so is in effect 1.9%

A letter in our local paper some time ago
Dear Home Secretary
I have served with Cleveland Police for over 26 years.
It has been a roller coaster ride. I have been assaulted, threatened and been attacked both on and off duty.
I have saved lives, risked my own and gone to the aid of many people.
I have seen sights that a human should not endure. I’ve put out fires, faced bricks bottles, petrol bombs, knives and guns.
I’ve nursed the dying, comforted the bereaved and arrested killers. I’ve protected the weak, the vulnerable, the old and the children.
I have saved the abused and caught the abusers. I have put in gaol, killers, rapists, robbers, burglars, sex offenders and every type of criminal you can imagine.
My phone rings day and night I always answer it, I am always there for no extra charge.
I am here for what no one else can sort out.
I am here for the terrible things in life, murder, death, terrorism, violence and despair.
I have spent my entire adult life picking up the pieces of everybody else’s problems.
I know that many bad people may hate me and to a few I am a hero, but to the Home Secretary I am faceless, taken for granted and unimportant.
I like every other officer have no choice but to take the slap in the face that Jacqui Smith has given me over my pay rise.
I see her actions as the worst possible and that is ‘unjust’ and that is against everything I stand for because at the end of the day I stand for justice.
I will never strike, how could I go against a life-time of service and betray the people I serve, my doctrine of service makes me and my colleagues and easy target.
Bow your head in shame Home Secretary. The police service will not forgive you.
