Private Plate - If the one you want isn't listed?!
OK
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm turning it over the fountain of all knowledge which is the ScoobyNet massive!
I'm looking for a private plate.
Most sites have all the same ones listed, but some have them listed which are not on other sites.
The only one i found which I really liked had already been sold.
My questions are :
1) Is there a REALLY comprehensive list somewhere?
2) Is there a way to look up a reg that isn't listed for sale, and contact the owner to see if they would sell it anyway?
3) Any other useful info / experience you might all have!
PS. I know they're w4nky! But everyone has one dirty secret!!

IIRC the DVLA website (or some website somewhere) has a searchable list of plates sold in previous auctions...
Not anygood for finding the owner.
BUT, very handy for finding how much was paid
I can serach for W4NKR if you want

OK, great Spoon.
Please lined up the 20,000 or so regular members of scoobynet, and I'll have a one-on-one with them all. Get real. Anyway, enough of this, Brendan can following infraction procedure if he feels its unjustified. Please back on topic now.

Oh and before you class me as a troll, lots of plates are for sale that owners don't even know about. I had 3 of mine up without my knowledge until a friend contacted me to ask why I was selling. Of course I wasn't and a quick phone call sorted it.
See a plate you fancy then ask the owner is pretty much the only way other than what you see for sale.

Thanks Shark Man,
Thanks Moley.
Preaching like you do about infractions and their use should mean you know what you're doing. Here, with Brendan, you clearly don't.
Best of luck finding your private plate.

OK, thanks Spoon. I heard you the first time. And you're always right, so I must be wrong.
Final polite request. Please leave this thread back on topic now.
PS. If you're absolutely sure you have a point (which you seem to be), then please feel free to post a thread in policy, telling me clearly, what you think I've done wrong, and why. I'll be happy to discuss it with you in detail.

OK.
Thanks to those who have turned this thread into a waste of space. I was looking for some genuine advice.
My sincere thanks to Moley and Shark Man for trying to help - and actually.. Moley, I've looked at their site and you're right, they're massive!

Right, Spoon. You clever, know it all. I'm about to start a thread in policy just for you, so you can tell me clearly the error of my ways.
