Some Police are great !
My dad broke down last night and called me to come save him.. as we were trying to decide what to do a copper pulled up..
He blocked traffic and helped me push the car across a roundabout to a safer place !
The car wasn't causing any risk where it was.. it was just in a difficult place to work on.
He was great, very polite and basically a great guy !
So for all the negative police posts... heres a positive one !

There are a**eholes and good eggs, a good friend of mine is a senior traffic officer - Obviously when i met him i proceeded to lay into him about speeding, speed guns etc. to my surprise i found that on a lot of my points he agreed with me (he rides a blade)
He really is good stuff, obviosuly he sticks to guielines but he doesn't dish out points for going a few mph over the limit he concentrates on the idiots doing warp 10 in a 30 limit.
A lot of the problem is the beaurecratic nonsense that comes from the powers above him dictating how he does his job
He explained to me that he just wanted to be an old fashioned policeman with old fashioned values - catching the bad guys etc. Now he is so fed up with all the nonsense he cant wait until he retires at 50.
Sad really

I broke down on the perimeter road at LHR on the way home from work. Within 3 minutes, I've got a Rangie behind me with the lights flashing. Two coppers jumped out, machine pistols dangling, and said "need a push "?
They pushed the car 200 meters up the road, so we could get it somewhere safe, and radioed the headquarters to let them know I wasn't Al Qaeda!
