Default Laura Ashley - As bad as Currys

The wife went in to buy a piece of furniture yesterday, Its in there sale.
Went to the till to pay for it and wanted to take it there and then. But were not allowed, had to be ordered, and could take up to 7 weeks

Didn't want to wait that long so decided to leave it. Today she thinks she still wants it so I go online to order it, only to find we have to pay £25 delivery cost !!! £25 for feks sake.
Call the store and ask if we can order it from there to be delivered to the store... again £25 delivery ........

So the item £340 can not be brought for this and is infact (inc delivery) £365

are they allowed to do this, called there customer services, who couldn't give a toss and said pay it or don't have it.

Are they allowed to advertise this, even if you cant buy it for that price?

Needless to say Laura Ashley wont see me or my money again.

I noticed that one of the other furniture stores was advertising there sale with huge discounts. The small print at the bottom basically said that the price they'd sell them for after the sale. How do they get away with it?

I think there all as bad as each other TBH.

But you are buying it for that price, but to get the item to you will cost you extra.

Unfortunately you will end up paying for a delivery one way or another. I suppose it would have been visually easier to buy if the item was £25 more expensive in the first place and advertised with free delivery.

There needs to be some ledgislation on this, i had something similar with a travel agent!

Holiday on the net was x amount, but that was with a 12 kg luggage allowance, no taxes and no travel insurance (which was virtually obligatory if you read the small print)

By the time taxes, decent luggage allowance (20kg, the missus is clothes obsessed) and insurance for two(which had to be paid for at time of booking!)
is taken into account it was 11% more!

How are they allowed to advertise this way, imagine going to a pub and being charged for the hire of the glass your pint is in, but told after you paid for the pint!

That makes the online advertised price unobtainable, so it should be illegal to advertise it!

Sorry to hijack but our cicumstances seemed similar!

Problem is too many pikey buyers who just look for things at the cheapest price possible. The only way a lot of companies ( rightly or wrongly ) can get people to look at their stuff is to make the prices look as cheap as possible by leaving out extra charges.

Same with cars though - how many car ads do you see advertising a new model at 'only £7995', but the small print then says thats for the crappy base model, and the nice looking one in all the pics they are actually advertising is the 'GLXSTi Vanden Plas Plus' which actually costs £20,000 once you add all the extras on.
