For their sake, I really hope that the front plate is not readable from the outside shot

One thing I will say is by the looks of it, at top end the speedo is all over the place. Seems to climb steady to 130+ then goes 140 150 160 140 170 160 180.........
Is that meant to be due to "wheel spin"

Got nothing against a bit of spirited driving or riding but that was just pointless

A bit silly i'll admit - car pulls out and its game over at that speed but carriageway was almost clear when he opened it out.
Police are not interested in catching people the old fashioned way anymore, instead of sitting behind cameras and at the station eating tea and biscuits whilst trawling the internet trying to track somebody down get out there and nick them. at least they cant moan when they've been caught fair and square.
Besides i doubt he was going that fast - his speedo was obviously attached to his rear wheel so when it spun it showed a false reading.

lots of people are questioning the speed, but its certainly quick.
I think the above poster has it right, its most probably a copper out testing his vehicle

Just shocked that a bike is producing enough torque at the end of the rev range to break traction at nearly 190mph. Very little wobble for such a high speed wheel spin.
Though it might have hit the limiter and confused the hell out of the speedo. Mates car used to do that. On the limiter in 5th the speedo would try then go to something daft like 24mph.
Clever......... not really.

I don't know much about bikes, but the power output seemed to really spike in the last few thousand rpm. Maybe its had some sort of monster tunning.
There was so mad fool on the continent that strapped a massive turbo onto his bike. The chase bike was doing way over 150 and was totally left for dust.

Modern superbikes are absolutely ridiculously fast nowadays - many many years ago i had a a middle weight bike that did 130 tops and that was fast enough, tbh when i was a wee snip of a lad i was a bit of a t*t on a bike.
god knows if i were a kid again and jumped aboard something like that - i wouldn't last two minutes

Actually I think I just hatched a cruel and cunning plan. A plan so cunning that it graduated from Cunning University. Just image if you did not like someone, and you just happened to hire a bike "a bit like theirs". It would be a shame if you just happened to have a plate made that was also "a bit like theirs".
Thats the problem with all this video "evidence". Its meaningless as you really don't have a clue who was actually in charge of the machine. Well, not unless you get a close up of their face at the time.
Its only a matter of time before some poor sod feels the whole weight of ineptitude of this administration falling right on top of them. Only it won't really be them who actually did anything wrong

I used to have a ZX12R and it would not try to spin the back wheel at those speeds. I think it said 189 because the clutch was being slipped or if the wheel was spinning then the bike was doing nearer 165-ish.
I tried it on a runway by the way.

I don't really see how the clutch spinning is going to increase the measured speed. The engine rpm would flair, but I don't see how that would correlate to a higher indicated speed.

The 10r must be very advanced on my old 12r then. I'd like to try one anyway

That's filmed at on the dual carriageway (A417 Brockworth Bypass) between the bottom of Birdlip Hill and the M5 near Gloucester, I recognise the roundabouts.
birdlip hill - Google Maps
Sounds like he has a mahoosive turbo on that bike, I guess that's why he's short shifting up through the lower gears.
Nice, hope he doesn't get caught or he'll be in trouble.
Edit: Oh, looking at the other videos it looks like a big turbo and a lengthened (Spondon?) swingarm.

Yup - Brockworth bypass at the bottom of Birdlip, along the A417 to Zoons Court rbout and then back up to the A46 rbout. It'd be easy to clock the distance between the points shown continuously on the video (if someone local were sad enough!!!) and measure the time it takes him to get between them to work out an average speed.
Anyway, not surprising that something that looks like this can do that...
YouTube - 450bhp zx10r
...but should be kept for the strip, where it was obviously made for.

At least it seems he was merely out to try the speed out, rather than being aggressive and pushing along past other users.
He's not the only person to have done these sorts of speeds and got away from it in one piece with a clean licence.
He didn't e.g. overtake a car that was already in the outside lane at 140+..... But that might have been pub talk about mates' mates....

I've used Google maps (OK, not the most accurate - but it'll do) to determine the distance from the Zoons Court roundabout - where it enters the dual carriageway, past the sign - to the 2nd bridge of the J11a roundabout (Valiant Way, etc. - which is the last discernible point that you see the bike go through in continuous video). This distance is just 0.8miles (if I move the end marker back a hundred yards or so it tells me it's 0.7 miles, so it's pretty much spot on 0.8 miles).
So - he covers 0.8 miles in - and I've timed it - 29.05s or there abouts.
Which equates to an overall average speed of 99.3mph.
Now... doing it once again, but this time just using the "quick" section...
I measured the distance from the first bridge he goes under (11a exit to 417 south) to the 2nd bridge of the J11a roundabout (Valiant Way, etc.) again. This time, using the 'moving the start point one way and then the other' technique the bridge is about half way between two tenth mile changes... so distance is estimated at 0.45 miles.
So - he covers the quick part of 0.45 miles in - obviously timed again - 9.8s
Which equates to an average 'quick' speed over that half mile of 165.3 mph
Bloody madness....

Reminds me of the hayabusa vid which was popping wheelies at well above 100mph:
Turned out the reluctor wheel that works the speedo has a few too many teeth, thus it over-read "a tad"
