Default camcorders?

Thinking of getting a camcorder in the new year, had a browse on the net but there seem to be a fair few out there..... any of you guys n gals got any that you could recommend/pass your comments on??

Would like one for no more than about £300.

Not really bothered about a Hard Disk Drive one (dont think I would get one for £300 anyway) as would always be worried about "shock" and killing the internal disk and losing the contents, so for the sort of money I would like to spend im guessing I will be looking at the DVD ones?

I have seen a Canon DC22 (as well as a couple of slightly different models) that dont seem too bad and around my bugdet, not sure how these compare to other makes though/if they are any good???

Appreciate any info/advice.

Thanks

Thanks for the link, would prefer a new one though, rather than a refurbished item.
