Tax & MoT help
#1
My kit car has been off the road for the last few months being rebuilt. In the meantime, both the tax and MoT have expired.
Presumably I can't tax it without a valid MoT, but am I ok to drive it to the MoT centre without tax, or does it need to be trailered? What do I tell plod if I get stopped?
Also, can anyone tell me if a rear fog light or reflectors are necessary for an MoT pass?
thanks in advance

Don't you have to complete a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) when the tax runs out and the vehicle is off the road? Don't know if that covers you to get an MOT - might be worth checking out.
Also, it would be worth checking what happens to the insurance if you have no MOT or tax.

You can drive a car without an MOT for a pre-arranged visit to an MOT station or a garage to have remedial work done. So as long as you phone in advance, you'll be OK. Notice that the second clause allows you to go to a garage that isn't an MOT station to have work done in connexion with getting the car into a state where it can pass an MOT.
