Question PVR: black or silver ?

Just about to buy a PVR. Choice of black or silver. Everything used to be black, then silver came in, now seems to be going back to black.

Which will be most fashionable in two years time?

Are you going for a Topfield? I have silver, but only cos our TV and DVD player was silver - they are going soon, and the new TV/DVD will be black so the Toppy will look funny

I will just dismantle and spray it if I'm arsed though.

By the silver one, when fashion dictates it needs to be black, wrap it in a bin bag.

Job done.

Are you running any TAPs or in vanilla form? Have you checked out the Welcome to Toppy.org.uk website? Recommended.

No, not managed to get round to installing any TAPS as yet due to the Toppy being miles from the PC, but I have a lappy with wireless now so really should install some, as I've had the Toppy for a year.

Will start with a new EPG first I think, MyStuff maybe.

Don't know how we ever managed without a PVR!!

No, Humax. The problem I'm hoping to avoid.

Same here (about not knowing how I managed without a PVR). If you like the Toppy now, you'll love it once you get some TAPs added. I've also patch a few enhancments to the FW as well (Power Restore, HDD, Startup, Timer, Recording roundel and the new on screen messages). I'm currently running the following..

Firmware : 5.12.25PHST2bRCy - aXeL-ised | TX : Waltham
TAPs in load order : TF5000 Display v1.26 | DescriptionExtender 1.5 | Info Viewer 1.5 | EPGnavigator v2.4 | QuickJump 1.6 | mcgCYRResume v1.0 | Power Manager v1.1 | mei2archive Beta 3.5
Others : TAP Commander 1.0 Beta 5 | HDDinfo 2.0 | HDFW 1.1a | USB Accelerator 1.0

EPGnavigator It's very clear and easy to use. I prefer the layout to the MyStuff EPG. I'm using an older version at the moment as the current one (5.1 I think) does not really offer me anything extra that I need at the moment.

What hacks have you done? I'd be interested to know if a Topfield with suitable TAPs will be able to match it.

Black for AV gear.

Silver always looks cheap and plasticy after a while unless it's high end kit.

There's always the odd fashion colour change with AV/HiFi kit but black comes back every time.

Cheers
