How would you go about doing this?

Parents have some language cassettes but can't listen to them in the new car. I guess they can somehow get them onto their mobiles and play them as mp3s. My first thought is a jack connection out of the cassette player (eg headphone) into the mic socket in the back of the PC, use some sort of recording prog (is there any default one in WinXP?) then put it into the appropriate format on the Memory Stick inside the mobiles.

(They could also burn to CD for car or home use I suppose)

Anyone know if that sounds about right? Particularly, I don't know what prog to record with, and what format soundfiles a K750 will play (I assume it plays mp3s).

Or would you suggest anything different?

Total Recorder can record anything your soundcard processes. So yes, mic or better still the line input on the back of your machine. Then record, compress and save onto whatever format you like

For the arsing about it may be better to just buy some new ones on cd or a bettery tape player for the car ?
