Sounds like a reasonable idea, but could you create three forums:-
One for football only. Now there's nothing wrong with it, but most people in Britain seem to think sport is football and football is sport and I personally wouldn't be bothered to wade through the 99% of posts on such exciting subjects as David Beckham's hairstyle, Manchester United's latest crisis (i.e. they actually lost a game), football hooligans are just misunderstood etc.etc. to get to posts about other sports.
One for those fast moving, maxed out, edge of the seat, extreme sports like cricket, tennis (only worth watching to see that buffoon Henman lose every time he plays someone you've heard of) and golf (it's bad enough playing it, but as a TV spectacle it sucks - a load of people out for a walk stopping every now and then to whack a ball the cameraman can't see for 90% of the time).
One for proper sports like any form of motorsport, rugby (both codes), Australian rules football etc.
Well you did ask and it is only my opinion.

I'm a pretty huge sports fan, seeing as i have a degree in sport! I especially love football.
I often think about posting football related topics somewhere on the BBS and then stop because I get the overall impression that most scooby owners aren't that in to football or sport. Forgive me if that is a bit of a generalisation but as I said it it just the impression I get.
Having said that I wouldn't mind a sport only forum but I am not sure there would be a large demand there Si and also whether too many forums will start to detract from the overall 'Scoobiness' of the site. Perhaps this thread will tell us.
It is a tough call and I just found myself asking "Well what is Scoobynet for?". Then I thought, it is for Scooby owners to discuss Scooby things, and Scooby owners to discuss Non-Scooby things, AND for Non-Scooby owners to do the same. Then that leads me to think that really it is for anyone to discuss anything with a bias towards drivers of Subaru drivers. Hmmm not really sure where I am going with this now as I have confused myself about what Scoobynet is for. lol Ideas?
I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't want loads of people to come across Scoobynet and start using it for lots of different posts about things when they have no real interest in Subarus or performance driving. I realise that might sound a little snobbish but those were the reasons I came to Scoobynet.

Guess I am playing Devil's advocate a bit because I probably would post in it but...
Most of the forums have something to do with scoobies or performance driving, which is the main idea (I think ) behind the site. Then there is Non-Scooby related for the obvious. I think a significant percentage of Non-Scooby threads were IT related hence the demand and justification for the Computing forum. I don't see that demand for a football/sport forum.
As mentioned earlier I would perhaps go elsewhere to discuss those kind of things.
Having said all that, I personally WOULD use it if it was created and if people were using it semi-sensibly. Although I could see many "Man Utd are better than Arsenal because...." threads developing in the same vain as "I beat a cossie..blah blah.." threads.
All my humble opinions of course.
Rikki.

Sounds cool si, would need some moderating though! LOL
I can see it now.....
Villa are ****, no utd are **** why don't you come back when you know about footy w**ker.
(replace with various teams on/near match days)
Brill bring it on.
I belive Mr habgood could moderate as he's quite partial (sp?) to giving people a slap.

Pontificating
What a great idea and for all the critics I have never seen a football thread on here that degenerated into a slanging match as to who is **** and who isnt (even though their must have been the odd one), they are usually light hearted, most scooby regulars who post football threads in non scooby related know who follows who and its usually the same people contributing, they may not know each other personally but they know each other through ScoobyNet.
If i was a non scooby owning person I wouldnt register here just to have a go on a sports thread, i would go to one of the many hundreds of footy nets that are out there and cater for the slanging matches and serve no real purpose.
Most people on Scoobynet are sensible and usually have a good or amusing opinion on football/sport in general which is quite refreshing compared to some other nets.
And at the end of the day those that hate sport or football would find the Non Scooby Related free of sport as has happened with the computer forum. Thats what makes scoobynet so good it caters for all members and their individual needs.
And lets not forget Football is the biggest and best religion in the world, as someone once said football is the sport of gods

I preferred the good old days when there was 'non-scooby related' thread with an interesting miscellany of topics ranging from 'what was the song called' to 'XP problems' to 'Man. United sucks', or whatever.
Now that IT has its own forum can't say I'm all that bothered to visit - spend my working day on IT; a light sprinkling in 'non-scooby' was okay tho'.
similarly, don't mind reading the occasional footy threads, but I probably wouldn't bother going into a dedicated footy forum.
- my dollar's worth.
