Paintball..vs.Narrow mindedness tut tut on you scooby drivers ;)

Just setting the record straight for some of the more narrow minded amongst us (this is tongue in cheek(
Torny paintball firstly is hardly played in the woods, nor is it played by Rambo types
Its played in sports arenas, with tv, and magazines watching and commentating.
Its played on the footy pitch in half, played across its width.
The barriers used, are made of heavy duty canvas, they are inflated, very similar to a very strong bouncy castle.
The pitches are small enough so that you can shoot the other team as soon as the match begins, and hence relies on a great deal of speed to run to the first obstacle on your side of the pitch before a world of pain comes down
And yes it is a world of pain, 5 man teams each with a gun capable of firing 16-20 rounds per second, travelling at over 200 MPH, yes that’s 200 mph (incidentally the ***** are made of a hard gelatine shell, not soft like many imagine)
If your too slow, then you probably get hit by at least a half a dozen of these things, and trust me, WHEN you get up of the floor and remember your own name, and wait for everyone to stop laughing at you’ll with you had trained harder for the match.
But its an excellent sport, the adrenalin rush is out of this world, if you likew the buzz of driving fast, well triple it for a serious 5 min torny paintball match.
Ive seen grown men shaking , barely able to speak from adrenalin overload.
The reason Rambo types don’t play tourneys, is it’s a sport. It has evolved to such a state that only athlete play it, Fit fast and aggressive is the name of the game, shooing hundreds of rounds at someone doing the same only a matter of meters from you, praying that you hit him/her before they hit you.
Teams play in bright colours trying to change the stereo typical image of Rambo in the woods.
Rambo never lasts, as soon as its taken very seriously by the teams, and such army connotations are fround apon by practically all in the game.
If you have never played it, do it, if you have, play it in a tournament, it takes it to a whole new level.
Try justifying the running costs of your scoob, to someone who sees cvars simply as a mode of transport, watch their jaw drop at you tell them how much your mods cost, and the look of complete disinterest as you tell them how good it goes, well I don’t expect many of you to understand the buzz form playing against a strong paintball team. But just realise that the adrenalin rush is so addictive, I have never had the same thing in a car.

I went paintballing once. Hated it. My visor steamed up within 5 seconds of putting it on, no amount of swapping it over/fairy liquid would help. It did'nt help that the day was cold ish and wet.
Impossible to play or do anything constructive when you can't see a darn thing. Got so bored I pretended to be hit just so I could actually see what was going on

HAHA yeh , what you did is go to a rental site?
Where the guns cost 20 quid , and the visor are purposely sanded down to block vision LOL i used to work at one, absolute mess it was.
No your talking in comparison to driving a nova vs our sccob
Our goggles have insulated lenses, and fans to blow cool air around them, you’ll never mist up , and they are actually combatable , unlike the ones you had on the PUNTER day.
As i mentioned above, lots of people have played paintball at punter sites for the day, its not similar, its not even the same game, to compare it would be simply insane.
OOO i once played colin mcrays rally on the play station, yeh i know what it feels like to drive a scooby. dont think so
torny kit is all cutting edge, all new guns have on board computers to conrole timing and gas flow, that are that high spec.
But alas, most people who have experienced paintball have only experienced punter paintball, and its enough to turn anyone off, a shame is there is a very exciting sport to experience you get involved.
Tornys run almost every weekend, with teams from around the uk and usa, all coming to play for prizes etc. with divisions (nov, amm and pro) and a league running through the country

Yeh , i would like my angel chromed, or possible anodised, lots of people anodise their gun, bright colours, ther is some very good anodising in the paintball world, even with images of flags and things imbedded in the anodising.
Trouble is the internal parts of the guns are measured in microns, and hence its not an easy job to do, any change in internal diameter will make the gun prone to leek
And when we are talking 4500 psi its not fun. Forget high psi boost of 18 we run around with tanks of 4500psi, would not like to see one of them things pop.
As I said…. serious stuff.

It was just like you said
If i'd have known the masks would be crap i'd have bought one myself.
Why is it like that? Everyone on the day was being put off by not seeing anything(or not a lot anyway) so it was a poor advert for the 'sport' I would think they would at least have reasonable gear so as not to cheese people off so they never came back??

I went paintballing a couple of times was quite good fun... however..
a) there were ****loads of Rambo types takin it too seriously.
b) we played it in the woods.
c) always see the fastshow version of the paintballers.
d) have watched it on bravo while flicking channels, not much of a spectator sport .
e) IMHO cs is more fun, cheaper, warmer, eayser to get to and did I say cheaper
[edited coz I dont know my alphabet]

Catflap,
I've got a friend that does this, he has an alien angel and some
other strange stuff to go with it. Spends a lot of money on it and gets told off by his other half. The only thing I could not cope with is getting up at 5.30 on a Sunday morning to get to an event.
The blow up fields look very stage but he says they are good
fun but he also like the woods.

I used to do a fair bit of paintballing and must agree its one the of the best adrenaline rushes you can get. Tourny stuff is full on crazy mad action and unless you're really quick you're out.
Be well up for doing this again one day

good to see some people know what im on about,
torny paintball is such a mad rush, its like nothing else on earth for a adrenalin hit, im sure people get addicted to it LOL
As for the fast show paintball? well yeh I have seen similar max power tv shows on bravo, are you like all the boy racers on that? you must be, coz iIVE SEEN IT ON TV ...please
As for it not being a spectator sport, well Ive seen some vid clips of sccoobs racing around on track days, I imagine it was fantastic fun for the drivers, but show that to your mate and tell him **** on every night on bravo? You recon people would watch??? I don’t.
Some things are for doing not watching.
Counter strike, yep play it myself, good game, but hardly on a par with a competitive sport, in witch you get to cause pain to people who were slower, less fit and less tuned in than you, imagine game of cs where when you nail someone grown men screamed like 8 year old girls coz of the pain LOL, well that’s torny paintball
dont compare torny paint ball with anything other than a game of torny paintball. your all fed up with evo vs scoob stuff???? well we get fed up with punter paintball vs torny paintball.
Same thing, lack of understanding.

The point being that it is something of a passion in my life, something I care a great deal about, and when derogatory comments are made about such a passion , I feel the need to defend it/myself. If you are not interested, simply DO NOT POST.
If you have something constructive to add, please feel free.
I have seen many Scooby net people defend their beliefs, of products suppliers, and even their cars, why is it no different if I feel that I would like to post my view about something close to my heart?
A little understanding goes along way, I make a point of never commenting on things I know nothing about, unless of course im gathering further information
