Cool

It seems harsh, but she must have known the law. It's like saying it's disgusting that a man was imprisoned whilst breaking an entering a house and occupants kicked the **** out of him, he really should have known better.

I know we think that associating like that is harmless, and for all intents and purpose it is, but you have to live within the laws of the country you live in or face the consequences, surely?

That's all very well for Brits abroad, we can decide whether to go to these places in the first place. It's a bit different for Saudi women - why should they have to leave their own country ? Of course we were the same ......600 years ago !

Why blame the US? Gordon Brown gave him the red carpet treatment in London last week.

Stunning.

If it weren't for the USA's bully tatics and our "special relationship" with them, do you think in all honesty we would have gone solo with the Gulf War?

So........let me get this straight.

The girl broke strict laws about segregation, and ended up getting raped.

The men who raped her were punished, since they broke laws.

But because the girl got raped, she should get away with braking the segregation law? I don't think so.

Don't get me wrong, NO WAY am I condoning the actions of the scum who raped her, but she broke the law.

Put it this way: if someone nicks your car, prangs it, and is injured, do you still want him punished for taking the vehicle? I know I would.

Alcazar, Geezer - so "If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to hide" eh?

So you won't be protesting against ID cards in this country, or having your car crushed by the UK police for doing 40 in a straight traffic-free rural 30 zone?

200 lashes just for being in a car FFS.

Their laws might not make sense to us but if you don't follow them you get punished for it.

If I bought a line of cocaine from a dealer who then bum raped me with his buddies do you think I should get away with the drugs charge? The drugs may be completely harmless, but against our laws.

Actually, 200 lashes for breaking the law in a car.

I think it's harsh, but that's by our standards, and it's only an opinion, there is no wrong or right here, no matter how distasteful you think it is.

I personally think it is pointless to prosecute someone for going 150mph up an empty motorway at 3 am, but I know the risks if I were to get caught doing it, so I don't (and the fact that I now own a car that won't do 150mph )

Which rather makes your second quote irrelevant. Sorry

There must be literaly thousands of single women in Saudi then as they are not allowed to meet blokes if they are not related! and if they are related they wouldn't be interested in each other anyway.

200 lashes will probably kill her anyway so why not just sentence her to death in the first place? also who is to say she was in the car voluntarily!!! maybe she was grabbed and dragged into the car in order to be gang raped!!!
