Sonic boom this afternoon
This afternoon was in the kitchen when I heard an almighty crash from upstairs and the house shook. The attic is rather full of books, suitcases and other heavy stuff, so my first thought was that the floor had given way.
Rushed upstairs and found everything perfectly in order.
On the news tonight the cuplrit was revealed (sorry its in Dutch)

It was an F16 going supersonic over land
on its way to intercepting a helicopter that failed to make radio contact.
Top Gun has a lot to answer for.

I am sorry to slash on your bonfire my friend but that sonic boom was from pslewis on the way to the shops in his wagon, he nipped out to pick up his latest edition of naughty nudes which explains the urgent speed.

Science fact of the day.
