Anyone know how to do a Google search missing out price comparisons?
I often want to do a search to get tech specs or a review on a products. An example being a JVC tele model AV28E50. If I enter this model number into the search box, with the work review present or not, all I get are endless price comparison sites.
A long time ago all you had to do to actually find a review of something was to add the work review. However, all these price comparison sites worked this out so now make sure you still hit on them even when you don't want to
Is there a Firefox plugin or something that just disregards these sites completely?

Normally i'd just add a minus next to the word you don't want to see (with no spaces) but i've just tried it and most of the comparison sites are sponsored links which seem to ignore the '-'

Yeah, it really sucks. It makes it almost impossible to find out useful info on lots of stuff. Especially since the same comparison sites seem to have several listings, makes it a real pain.
There has to be some way around this. Even using other search engines gives pretty much the same result

I was looking for a chinese restuarants website and all I kept getting were those directory listing sites for take aways. Very very annoying aspect to google and other search engines

Its all down to the money advertises are prepared to pay the search engines. However, other people who are good at programming stuff must have run into this issue before. Just look at all the adblockers you can get. There must be someone who has written a tool that rules out all these price comparison sites
The only way I have managed to sort of get around them is to search for say "television review sites, or television forums". Then, go to each of those and then search within those for what I am looking for. Takes bloomin ages
