Yes, it is a nice place in the world. Been a long time since I went. So long in fact that I was too young to enjoy the beer

Should be heading to Munich for a night out soon, people at work always go on about how good it is and how much Frankfurt sucks (I kinda like it here personally)

Rhine valley and all its castles are totally awesome..

I've worked in most of the big cities in Germany, but the best bits are definitely the rural areas - Mit Wasser und Bäumen

Hi Gatty,

It's ironic you should say that. I was recently involved in a big project to upgrade MUC, as we call it.

So we in Britain can claim some credit for it and I am glad to know my hard work and that of my colleagues was not in vain.

Germany has all the problems we have.

A weekend on the **** from someone with money in their pocket, there for a good time doesn't make it a great place.your

No offence, but I'm sure every visitor to ******, or ******, or even ******* who went there for a good time - and had that good time would say, "k'kin great place. Why can't it be like that where I live?"

Wake up.

When I was a kid I wanted to live in Blackpool becuase of the amusements and theme park.

Blackpool's a 'kin dump, now I'm older..............

your point is valid fatherpiere, i was there on business though. I did not see any burkurhs or ninjas in munich airport that was a good start for me, then things only got better. In the sticks where i was staying the gerneral public in the street were so friendly do you remember these people in britain? Its going back a bit.

ok keeping it simple.

Heathrow vs munich (airport) = 1-0 to the krouts
uk friendlyness vs Krout friendlyness= 1-0 to the krouts

OK so these are only first impressions, so what i can see differences regardless what other problems were all having, making allowences for in this dive, blah blah blah.

And Asif, how are you? and what the hell is muc?

Hello Gatty, how's tricks?

Am fine thanks, you? Yes MUC is Munich in Airport speak.

Was up in Brum recently, didn't see too many Burkhas or Ninja's, but then I was in Solihull.

FWIW Germany was never a place I was interested in visiting but now Ive been, it definately get the thumbs up from me. Frankfurt was ok but maybe a little too industrial and too many works. More so like London, Nuremberg is a gorgeous place though with friendly people and lots of nice pubs and beer Had a great time there and wouldnt hesitate to go back.

Plus its clean and not the usual dump you see around here where we should employ more litter pickers than anything else.

Great race track, great beer.

I'll be doing both at the weekend, and watch the F1 and rugby.

Hope you didn't mention the War.

Seriously though, I loved Munich too, and the pigs trotters, and the Bratwurst, and the Schnitzel, and the draught beer is outstanding.

LOL!

I aspire to that you know? I look around me in Solihull and think, "Where did all these white people come from? Not like the rest of Brum". Just joking of course!

Back on topic, I really liked Germany, although I only travel there on business. Firm has business all over the place, but only has an office in FRA, sorry Frankfurt, so that's where we go.

I was put off taking a holiday in Germany after watching "Funny Games", a German movie made by Michael Haneke. I think Hollywood are doing a remake.

Property is dirt cheap though, friend of a friend has just bought about half a dozen Buy to Lets in the Centre of Berlin, probably on the Eastern side. He only outlayed about £100k.

German property market has been on the decline for years, so he is gambling that it will change around and go up. He will get good rental, as that is popular over there, but who knows if his assets will appreciate?

So Gatty, are you going to consider a move over there?

Asif

definately. Dont think i saw a single piece of rubbish in the streets anywhere. Was amazed at the speed at which the council cleaned the place after rock avalances/ river flooding.

at tops of mountains theres a pub with beers chilling in the cold water horse troughs and of course the apple strudel and vanilla sauce

Having spent time in Germany from the 70's through to the 00's I can say that the Germans had our problems and have cured them. Their Health Service is brill, public transport ace, trains are like swiss watches and beer is the dogs, except B**tard which is muck, oh and muckey books .

When the MOD ****canned military hospitals we all thought it was going to be ****e. Wrong, my misses need an MRI scan............two days later scan done!

As regards to the area, it's brill and as already stated get over to the area of Garmisch, get up the Zugspitzs and look at 4 countries from one point at the top of the Fatherlands tallest mountain. Roads are fantastic too.

Sparkbrooks not so bad, late at night and when very hungry!

So, will you learn the lingo if you decide to go?

Moving country is a serious move. I remember that you have travelled quite a bit, different to live there though, no?

I find the place dull. the people dull the food lacking in flavour and never want to go back. I did stumble on a town there called wildehausen which clearly exhists in some kind of twilight zone and that was the highlight of my time there.

with all due respect asif there's millions who have come here from some crap places and doing well out of my country including your forefathers, now this place is heading towards being crap for some natives what are the options?

pc or not this is the feeling for millions of natives fact. i dont want to turn this into a political row i just say it how it is. They clearly dont put up with half the crap we pc soft as crap nation puts up with and that is clear!
