Default LCD HDMI / DVI question

some LCD's state that they will only accept DVI (720P) inputs to a certain resolution - but they will accept a higher HDMI (1080p) signal.

Is it as simple as getting a DVI > HDMI convector and plugging your PC into the HDMI socket?

Depends on what connector you have I'd saybut then I know nothing.

My tv will display at 720p but accept a 1080p signal on hdmi and downscale it. However it has a seperate VGA connector to for a computer input, some have seperate dvi connectors for comps.

Ah, the monitor I'm looking at will display 1080P but only accepts DVI input at 720P - if playing through HDMI, it will display 1080P

The simple answer is no, however that could also be the wrong answer as I have no idea what you are talking about. However my interjection into this most interesting of threads has, if anything, ensured its rise to the top of the forum whereby someone that actually may know the correct answer is and hopefully will respond!

Thanks are not necessary

I have a toshiba 322wlt66, it can handle 1920x1080 but it interpolates the image so it can fit.

It runs pretty much like any lcd monitor ive had, you have res's it can/can't handle no biggie.

Yes you can connect a PC to a TV via a DVI > HDMI lead, thats how mines connected at the moment.
