Talking Detailing? Do you mean wash & polish?

Although I sometimes enjoy giving the Scoob a good clean & valet now & then, I had to laugh at this Sniff Petrol post: SniffPetrol

I guess "detailing" is another one of those Yank words that has been picked up over here?

Don't you mean manifolds... or is manfolds

a) An americanism

b) Something else?

It is a Yank word, I saw it used on American Hot Rod or something like that and it means close inspection to get all the blemishes sorted.

Another hugely irritating example; "it's been an amazing journey for me". Meaning, some random stuff happened to me to which I will try to attribute deep meaning.

this also grates on me, its blooding valeting, chumps call themselves "detailers" as its supposed to give a more upmarket image apparently.

nobody would ever ring me up and ask for the price of a full detail

Eh? the way i see it is this - valeting = a wash, vacum and wax if you pay extra!
Detailing goes ALOT further than just this! a valeter will not restore your oxidized paintwork or get polish swirls out from your car nor will he achieve the shine that a professional detailer does using specialist tools and polishes/waxes.Most people i know who go to a detailer go there to get the paintwork restored and not just for a clean.

I want full details of your detailing, including who's going to be on detailing detail.

I remember laughing at the last line, "retired to the bathroom to spend a typically suspicious amount of time in the shower, probably ‘detailing’ his ****."

It is after all just washing you car.

Steve

PS Although I do own a lot of Swissol stuff!

On a similar note, isn't 'drifting' just doing tail outs?

Something wrong when people get so **** about polishing, wash, polish and vac, then drive the t1ys off it.

Makes me laugh when some muppet spends a grand to make a Vauxhall Astra shiny.

The original posters point was: that detailing is a stupid americanism thats been adopted by people without thinking. Probably by the same people who now say "may bad..." wtf that means.

If he upsets you then just put him on ignore rather getting wound up.
I think he's quite a wag.

Me washing my car remains a crappy wash, valeting it is what Sticky would do (very well I hear) and detailing it is what I'd get polished bliss to do once I win the lottery..... three completely different processes

Nothing like the old days building a big as ramp as you could with whatever bits of plywood you could get your hands on, and a load of household bricks

Sometimes we would get the other kids to lie down after the ramp too

Many a tyre mark left on stomachs
