#1
One of the guys on our 900 board got pestered by a young chap in a 93WRX whilst coming out of McDonalds drive thru.
Scooobie chap comes upto Saab Turbo chap after being persuaded by his friends and coments:-
'Quite fast these are they?'
Saab chap says 'yeah its not bad'
Scoobie chap walks away muttering something about his scoobie's faster.
Words out!!

Come on the 900 is a 80's CAVALIER tarted up for the Middle Class, I must admit I do quite like them though, nearly bought on (900) but checked the legendary crash rating and it was rated poor !!!!
Bought a T5 instead, Scooby soon

Mark, thnk your talking about the newer GM900, i know my classic style 900 was so good in the crash tests years ago that it destroyed the concrete crash block and came through the other side!!!!!!!!Brick 5hithouse is the word.
Newer GM900 built on a Cavalier floorpan, nott the earlier classic shape.

Perhaps you could have smothered him with the tartan rug you keep on the rear seat, bundled him in the boot of your car and pottered around the town for an hour or so like a mobile chiccane. That would have shut him up!
sod this 'my cars better than yours' b0ll0x - been there done it to death
Track days are the place to sort this out, how mnany of your enthusiastic Saab owning friends would like to do a joint track day som time? - time off from work should not be an issue - as Saab owners are usually retired

Pete, what was the Saab bloke doing at a McDonalds? I assume he took a wrong turn on the way to the Bridge Club (easily done when there's a small spaniel rolling around on the dash I suppose).
I have to admit, ever since *that* thread I always check for a tartan rug whenever I see a saab turbo!

Just meant to be a good old fashined bit of humour guys! not a 'my cars faster than yours' brag,
I was at a track day with some scoobies in December at Goodwood, must admit i wasnt very impressed with the new model-but then again i dont think the guy really knew what he was doing.
I was holding my own until i snapped a earth cable an the gearbox- oh well!
The Address for the 900 forum is
www.saab-900.com
You should find some info about the 9000 on there but its for mainly 900's, there are however lots of links.
Happy wheelspinning(well in my car anyway!)

Ok Ill site on the fence as normal!
The Saab 900T16v can out accellerate a Testerossa from 50-80mph (Or something like that) to quote J Clarkson. My Father had a 900turbo with sport pack and it whent like poo of a trowell and most people felt it handled like it was on rails. Also they build quality is fantastic and the quirkyness is appealing, i.e funny place for the ignition key, and funny opening bonnet. Also the load space is very well designed. Nad they are as safe, if not safter than Volvos.
Not to mention the fact that Saab had turbocharged Rally Winning Cars while Subaru we still making pickup trucks for farmers. I consider a Saab to be an idividual car that has a lot of driver appeal.
However you can have the keys to my Scooby Turbo when you prise it from my cold dead hand. Coz I love Scoobies and to be honest they are faster than a Saab (but then it depends on how you drive them so I am a big enough person to admint that a good saab driver could lap a track faster than me in the Scoob)

Yeah id love to see a 4wd Saab to, i think of late that they have lost there way a bit in terms of Handling and build quality, there are people on the site who dont want to change from the classic turbo to the newer model because it hasnt the looks, handling or build quality of the old style.
By the way mine is in black 3 dr with full aero kit, whaletail, i think it must have had most of the options ticked when it was new 'cause its got air, cruise, power everything, heated seats and tan leather, its currently running 1.2 bar boost so its quite rapid(in a straight line of course!).
I would love a scoobie but my priorities are elsewhere as i have a little one coming soon!
I managed to persuade the missus that i neaded to buy this car because of the huge boot its got!(nothing to do with the performance), you could have a party in there its that big!
Good chatting to you guys
Pete.

Gosh, these Saab owners are really polite, aren't they?
What a pleasure to see a 'my cars better than yours' thread conducted in such a gentlemenly manner.
Quite tempted (sort of) by an import 9-3 Aero coupe for 16K. My mate has a 9-5 Aero estate and is well pleased with it. One thing surprising thing though, you can't stand a mountain bike (with front wheel removed) up in the back, which you can in a Scooby wagon, thus leaving loads of floor space for other gubbins.
Cheers
Tim
PS Who's going to start a 'Saab drivers are nicer then TT drivers thread' ?

Had a Saab convertible couple of years ago. Loved the thing but as I live in the sunny highlands I got sick of my legs getting wet every time I opened the door. For pose value and the rare hot sunny days, it was great.

Hey 900t16Aero - I agree, the old style 900 is best. I really liked them. My Dad has had Saabs for as long as I can remember. He's now driving the old 900 Ruby Turbo (ie, the special edition 185 bhp - last of the 900s)

Scoob is briliant and I have no plans to change at the moment but last year at the airport (Heathrow IIRC) there was this Saab 9000 on display and I sat in it.
I gotta say that easing my 6' 6" 20 stone into all that leather felt pretty good - getting into the scoob feels like you actually wear the car
The Trolls are definitely on my list of cars to buy when the scoob does go - and with 4 wd...

Hey Guys,
The responses keep coming!
Dont tell too many people about Saab's being fast or i might start seeing shaven headed yoof's driving the round retail parks doing burnouts and handbrake turns!
I like the Q car appeal about them, i think the early scoobs shared this when they first came out especially the Legacy, shame they have lost it now- but i suppose that was inevitable really.
And James im jealous of your Dad with the 'Ruby', they look excellent with the Carlsson kit on them, in fact thats the only car i would sell mine for- A Carlsson, (a scoobs a bit out of my price range)
Sorry for rambling on!
P.s if any of you guys see a black F-reg T16 aero round Smallfield(near East Grinstead) give us a flash or wave!(youll probably only see the back of it though!)
