DIY Electroplating kits

DIY Electroplating kits
Hs anyone ever used these? I've been thinking about getting one (zinc) for a while to "re-plate" all the engine bay clips/brakets/bolts on my gtt's to freshen them up a bit, but I don't know anyone that's ever had a go themselves. I've seen a kit on Fleabay for £50 that's caught my eye but it seems very cheap compared to when when I was last looking, a few months ago.
Does anyone have any info on wether it's worth doing it yourself with a cheap kit, or is it best left to "a professional"

Get all your stuff off and take it to a proffesional electroplaters.
some have a small minimum order charge, say 30 quid - i'd be surpised if they charged you more than 100 quid.
