Default Billy Connolly - Liverpool Philharmonic

Just won 2 tickets on E-Bay to see the Big Yin in Liverpool on 12th September!!!

2 tickets in the stalls, row M, pretty close to the front with a good view, cost me £185 - money well spent I think!!!

I'll be like a kid at Christmas now waiting for the 12th

£185 I paid about £30 to see him at the Hammersmith Apollo, although it was many years ago. Saw a clip of him on YouTube recently which looked like he'd lost his edge

He has totally lost his edge...

Brilliant years ago, saw him a few times.

Total let down nowadays

Best avoided...

I've been watching him for years and still think he's very funny.

Admittedly, he's not as funny as he was 10-15 years ago but the guy has been doing stand-up for nearly 40 years so I think you could forgive him if material is wearing a little thin.

Just love the turn of phrase, "I won tickets" £185 worth of winning.

Enjoy.

Well his show was fantastic. 2 hours and 10 minutes of non-stop laughter.

I reckon at least 90% of his material was new and very, very funny.

He also done some of his classics which was good, especially the moving airport floor!!

Made better by the fact it was in a very small venue

Dunk

You'll have to let me know what you thought, I've been watching him for over 17 years and have always been desperate to see him live.

Admittedly he was probably much better 15-20 years ago but I think this is probably his last ever UK tour so enjoy it!!

Do you remember this one?

'This guy was going out to meet his friend in the pub.' He continued. 'How's it going? Fine. How's the wife? Oh she's dead. What? I murdered her this morning. You're kidding me on! No, I'll show you, if you like. So he goes away up to his tenement building, through the close. That's the entrance to the tenement,' he explained, 'and there's a big mound of earth there and, sure enough, there's a bum sticking out. He says, 'Is that her?' He says, 'aye.' He says, 'Why'd you leave her bum sticking out?' He says, 'I need somewhere to park my bike.'

I remember seeing him doing that joke on Parkinson, I think it was on Erect For 30 Years

The other one I like is the 'getting drunk from the feet up'

I saw him a year or so ago in the Pitlochry Festival theater. A really small venue (circ 500 capacity)
I too had to buy via ebay. I did have to pay over the odds but enjoyed every min of it.
I would agree that his newer stuff just doesn't have the same lol-ability as some of the old stuff but as his comedy is mostly observational there was more chance of really funny stuff happening in the ship yards than the 5* hotels. That said the toboggan talk at the Christmas table is a belter
