Speeding info site ?
Anyone know what the site is that has useful legal info about speeding ?
Was just returning home and there was police everywhere doing stop checks and some had speed cameras. As I went past them all I suddenly noticed a plain white van parked behind some bushes etc facing me,then I noticed the camera pointing at me,realised I was doing about 35mph in a 30mph
I know it was my fault but I got distracted by all the police and their cars
As it's the end of the month they must be trying to bump their quota up for the month

Dont know if it will be any help but i got out of a similar situation by asking for the calibration certificate of the camera, because they are supposed to be calibrated every time they get used

down here in Devon I've seen the police doing stop + check with a camera van 1/2 a mile up the road with the N.P.R.S. (number plate recognition system) and then stopping everyone that triggers it. you may have just seen that the other way round (going in the other direction). its not likely to have a speed camera in it. Just a suggestion mind you

Agree with the above.
It'll be ANPR, auto number plate recognition. Looks like a normal video camera on a tripod with a wire into a white van, usually unmarked round here.
The tripod mounted gatso's I have seen are very obviosuly different, one box for the doppler radar (or whatever, microwave I think), then another separate box for the camera and a flash etc etc. All wired up with cables everywhere. Your's sounds very unlike that.

I was paying more attention to my surroundings rather than being glued to my speedo actually
We aren't talking high speeds here but I know of an elderly lady by me that got done for 33mph in a 30mph zone and being the end of the month that's why i'm abit worried !

Do all speed camera vans have the 'safety camera' markings on them ?

Been doing some quick research and found out it was indeed an ANPR van and not a speed camera van.
Hopefully they were out catching some of the uninsured/untaxed lowlifes round here

Probably ANPR as suggested, especially if there were a lot of Police around.Usually a joint op with DVLA and other agencies.ACPO guidelines usually dictate a 10%+2policy-however this sometimes varies-West Mids has a higher speed threshold on their cameras.Contrary to popular belief, end of the month means nothing when it comes to issuing tickets/operations.Usually dictated by events that you may or may not be unaware of-mainline(car key) burglaries in area/road used as popular route by travelling criminals ,fatal/serious collisions in area. Its not a conspiracy
