.......................1972...........
Ziggy played guitar
Jamming good with Weird and Gilly
And the Spiders From Mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's band
Ziggy really sang
Screwed up eyes and screwed down hair-do
Like some cat from Japan
He could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave them to hang
Came on so loaded man
Well hung and snow-white tan
So where were the Spiders
While the flies tried to break our *****
Just the beer light to guide us
So we bitch about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands
Ziggy played for time
Jiving us that we were voodoo
But the kids were just crass
He was the nazz, with God-given ***
He took it all too far
But boy, could he play guitar
Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man
We had to break up the band
Now Ziggy played guitar
............ you can keep... the killers, snow patrol, james blunt.....

Ah yes, the 1970's, spawning such great acts as David Bowie, Abba, and Elton John... I am embarrased to be born in such a decade Woeful fashions, only punk music to be born out of 10 years of music, Morris Marinas and Shawaddywaddy...
Sorry DCI, the 1970's is the worst decade on record...
Then again, you mentioned James Blunt, Ahhhh wait, I see what you mean now yes, yes, yes! I love the 1970's!
I see a little sillhouetto of a man! Scaraboosh Scaraboosh will you do the fandango! Thunderbolts and lightening very very frightening! EEEEEEE

Living in the past suggests your present is crap and your future is going nowhere. Figures.

Nothing wrong with the 70's
I was around for the some of the 60's too
But at least it meant I could appreciate the 70's though
but worse still meant I had to survive the 80's

how about some 90's lyrical nonsense.
CULTURE SUCKS DOWN WORDS
ITEMISE LOATHING AND FEED YOURSELF SMILES
ORGANISE YOUR SAFE TRIBAL WAR
HURT MAIM KILL AND ENSLAVE THE GHETTO
EACH DAY LIVING OUT A LIE
LIFE SOLD CHEAPLY FOREVER, EVER, EVER
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
LIFE LIES A SLOW SUICIDE
ORTHODOX DREAMS AND SYMBOLIC MYTHS
FROM FEUDAL SERF TO SPENDER
THIS WONDERFUL WORLD OF PURCHASE POWER
JUST LIKE LUNGS SUCKING ON AIR
SURVIVAL'S NATURAL AS SORROW, SORROW, SORROW
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
ALL WE WANT FROM YOU ARE THE KICKS YOU'VE GIVEN US

ALL WE WANT FROM YOU ARE THE KICKS YOU'VE GIVEN US
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS
DRIVE AWAY AND IT'S THE SAME
EVERYWHERE DEATH ROW, EVERYONE'S A VICTIM
YOUR JOYS ARE COUNTERFEIT
THIS HAPPINESS CORRUPT POLITICAL ****
LIVING LIFE LIKE A COMATOSE
EGO LOADED AND SWALLOW, SWALLOW, SWALLOW
UNDER NEON LONELINESS
MOTORCYCLE EMPTINESS

UNDER NEON LONELINESS
EVERLASTING NOTHINGNESS
nevertheless, an awesome song

"Sounds of the 60's" and 70's is well worth listening to. The music is far better and shows far more imagination for that matter. Friends who were not around in those years agree too when they hear it.

Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple
Black Sabbath
Pink Floyd
and thats just the tip of the iceberg! (Makes note, Hawkwind are on BBC4 tonight)
Then sensationally followed up by The Damned, The Clash, Sex Pistols, and far too many others to mention.
WHAT A DECADE!
Great to listen to some prime cuts on Life On Mars which is being repeated at the moment (series 2)

And what is punk's legacy? For all the 'illuminati' who try and claim that punk rock saved music, tell me of one truly great band; the Clash? Sex Pistols? Ramones? Give me a break, they each had one or two decent songs at best!
For every good punk song that came out of the 70s, I could name you ten classics by proper bands...
