Why is my pond water so black ?
Pond water has recently gone very very inky black from being quite clear - now cant see the fish!
Our filter (bucket filled with special stones - type) is really struggling to keep it clear.
Any ideas ? I put in some sludge buster yesterday, not sure how long that stuff takes to work ?

Have you got a UV light filter built into the system, if not you may have a black algae infestation that this last week of sun has brought out.
Do not eat or let kids near the water without washing carefully after you have been in contact with it, it is poisonous, unlike the green stuff!!.
The fish should survive, but you need to carefully use an algae treatment from a watergarden specialist.
