To shop a m8 or not. . .
Situation:
Friend "G" currently is a well paid director of a company. He currently resides in a two bed flat which he owns leasehold. Value Circa £170k
G's partner L is currently unemployed / cash in hand. She has 3 kids between 16 > 10. All of which reside with her.
L lives in council paid accommodation and is claiming full benefits, and is about to swap / upgrade to a larger council paid house in a better area.
G has talked about renting his flat out and residing with L full time.
This is pissing me off as potentially he will be living with her and we will be paying for their accommodation.
Of course, if he lets the council know about the move and contributes to the cost of houseing, this is a different story. But going from the conversation we had this was not to be the case.
Opinions?

If he's your mate - why would you even consider shopping him?
A grass is a grass in my book, but to do it to a mate takes the ****.
It is benefit fraud though, but she would still be claiming anyways and the same amount if he wasn't there.

G is on about 45k +/-
G Owns a flat which he is about to move out of and rent out to a third party. He will then move into L's council house.
What I find annoying is that G (who is on about 1.5x my salary) is going to be living in accommodation which I will be paying for.
so he's not taht well paid then if he's off to live in a council house!

Not a lot of money these days.
He's a 40% tax payer, your more than likely to be a 23% payer, you do the maths

Don't get the "grass" type comments really... what if this was an illegal immigrant or jihadist?
Also seems a bit out of step with the usual SN line to condone a bit of benefit fraud. Welfare state abusers don't usually get off so lightly!
If it was me, I'd think less of someone who did that but i'd probably just leave him to it.

Yes I realise that they would lose, but in the long run they would lose a lot more than just a few quid if caught, if he doesn't declare that he is living there full time

Hmm, quite a lot according to my Mum
She works in the Post Office and a lot of them tell her that they have 'other halves' staying with them, but publicly they have seperated/dovorced etc cos that way they are better off financially

I reckon he likes the idea of having his flat in case it all goes pear shaped.
I'd have thought any non-declaring penalties would fall mostly on the woman with the council flat and kids... and then 'G' will just offski back to his flat.

I can well believe that but don't tell Pete Brant otherwise he'll find figures to say it's only a small amount in the budget available.

It'd be a different story if it were happening on the doorsteps of these people who say "some mate you are" Just brings up the question of what scams are they pulling as well!?
The country is a bad enough state as it is with foreigners getting the majority of our hard earned, we don't need the these people sponging too!

I can't figure out what a hard working bloke with enough aspirations and goals to form his own company - would actually choose to live in a council estate with a doler and its baggage!
