Default OMG, save the planet - its the evil patio heater

You really have to love this government. They manipulate and lie, and people still fall for it.

They introduce a smoking ban, and tell people not to worry as its good for everyone. They tell smokers that they can stand outside and smoke. Don't worry about it being cold as pubs will install patio heaters.

Now both Red Ken and others want them banned because of their environmental impact. Just wait till local legislation is passed so that you cannot have patio heaters in beer gardens.

You've got to love them

Yes, I do that, I don't smoke. Its the mis-selling that I do not appreciate. They were quite happy to let smokers think there was going to be an alternative. Lots of air time was given to outside beer gardens etc, and now they basically want to take those away.

The number of days we get where you can use a beer garden are very limited unless it is heated.

Yeah, 10p per pint extra in a pub with patio heaters.

If they get that in, they will then start asking for only 5p per pint extra for a pub with heating

Mind you, I did laugh at one of the arguments put forward by a pub landlord. He claimed that his patio heaters allowed him to tap into the Spanish holiday market. Since he has heaters, he is reducing air pollution. People choose to drink at his pub rather than flying over to Spain

Just a lesson in politics. Red Ken, who I assume you mean Ken Livingstone, is the Government. The Government lives in Parliament and controls the country.

Ken lives in Brighton and only controls London

When I move into my new house with Mrs Abdabz (to be), I am buying one of these gas patio heaters
This is so when we party, it can spill out into the garden at any time of year.
As man does not contribute in any way to climate change, the only bad thing this patio heater will do is make my neighbours jealous Comedy reporting by the bbc this morning "just put on a jumper instead of using a patio heater and save the universe" etc...

So what if they don't use patio heaters but build a bonfire instead? Or use those Mexican ovens as heaters?

Where do you get your Mexicans from? I was around at my local garden centre and they were all out of them so I had to use wood instead!

I don't have one - just suggesting it as I'd seen them being used as heaters. I'm sure you could turn some up on the good ole net!

Well if you do want a patio heater I would go and get one quickly. Two of the major garden centre chains have capitulated to green pressure and have stopped selling them

Why they could not have just given those activists a few plants when they complained I have no idea If they were really angry, why not just give them some compost too?

With global warming it is likely to get colder here in the medium term.

I predict a very cold and snowy winter this year due to a weak North Atlantic Drift which is already giving us a very wet summer.

More carbon bollocks.

It rained and flooded in 1939, and probably in 1839 as well. I don't understand where the idiots in power are going with these things?

Are we aiming to all just wither away and die, they want to restrict global flying, they want us to use less power, heat etc - should we just move back into caves now?

I'll be interested to see what we get, I suspect warm(ish) and wet.

It's already expected that in the next ten years after 2012 we will experience a global cooling problem:-

GMTV this morning.... some STAR member of the public...

*White haired man stood in water up to his chest*

"Last year the minister for the environment was telling us to put a brick in our cistern to save water!"......"that the water shortages were down to 'Global Warming' and it was only going to get worse"

Say's it all really

The only thing about this that would make me laugh is if they tax the gas bottles, I'd enjoy the average caravan dwelling pikey having to pay more to keep themselves warm and to cook

Even better would be to tax caravans off the road or ban them since towing them increases the amount of CO2 a car emits. Hopefully then we'll see less of them on the roads come bank holidays!!

I really couldn't believe this when I heard it this morning. Are they seriously trying to suggest that a few patio heaters are going to make any difference whatsoever? It beggars belief and things like this just go to prove what a complete and utter load of crap the entire global warming / carbon footprint story is. In 5 or 10 years time, we will look book and wonder how so many people fell for it.

Incidently, if you go to B&Q or another store to buy the gas for your patio heater, you may notice that CalorGas sell 'patio gas' in green cylinders - this is exactly the same gas that comes in the normal blue cylinders - it just costs a bit more!

I feel like going out and buying a patio heater this weekend just for the hell of it now and leave the ****** on for as long as possible

Its acceptable to cook food outside on a BBQ to 'eat' but not to waste gas in an attempt to heat the outside world because you're feeling a 'bit chilly'......

Actually it's propane, so it's the same as the stuff in the orange/red cylinders. Sadly the fittings are different though

At the end of the day, smoke faster and stop being such a *****. You're only expected to stand outside for the length of time it takes to smoke a ciggy

Honestly, you'll be complaining about getting chapped hands or a dry T-zone next

I'm going to buy 5 patio heaters and only run them when I'm inside with the heating on. And I'm going to burn coal and take the cats off my car.
