Question Anotha gramma thred

What is the CORRECT way to write/type an address?

David Lock,
1, Acacia Gardens,
Scoobyville,
HACKNEY, HA1 0JK

Or the same thing but without the commas?

My Mrs and daughter both say they were taught to do it as above.

Yes - I know it doesn't really matter but what is correct? d

If I was writing a letter it would be (using your example) to the top right hand corner of the letter. Just an address on th envelope would be the same but just in the middle obviously and without the date.

David Lock
1 Acacia Gardens
Scoobyville
Hackney
HA1 0JK

Date here....

Always used to be as you've typed it but then changed to without commas in the last few years.

You won't be imprisoned for either though.

IIRC, grammatically correct would be;

Mr David Lock.
1 Acacia Gardens,
Scoobyville,
Hackney.
HA1 0JK.

I second that fantastic approach towards this amazingly well managed and run forum and in light of this tremendous news may invest another £5 for its upkeep and improvement

Commas are evil and mess up data extraction. They are removed from our systems

You're kidding right? This is the new me, I'm a changed man. I shall agree with everyone because I love it and it's the way forward.

I rang up for an insurance quote today on my Zonda and was asked if I had any ScoobyNet infractions. When I said yes they loaded the premium!! Only justified though.
