To play 2 players simultaneously, yes, you need to buy another remote and another nunchuk (assuming the game/s you are playing require the nunchuk - although this is pretty cheap anyway!)

The numchuck is only needed for a few games (for example only the boxing on Wii sports, nothing on Wii play etc)... Buy another controller though
