PS2 will play any DVD displaying the 'All' or '2' region symbols. as region 2 is europe it should play the dvds from holland with no probs.
if you do have probs then grab either DVD Region X or Action Replay 2 V2 from HMV. both of these have a import dvd player. Region X is 19.99 and AR2 is 29.99. The dvd part of both of them is I think the same. Personally I'd go for the AR2 as it does a lot more than just DVD stuff. current PSi mag has 5 use demo of region x so you could try it out if you want.
Most of my DVD's are region 1 (USA/canda) cos they are better specced and cheaper than region 2. Have played region 1 StarWars - phantom menace with no problems. OK, so you have to put in Region X/AR2 disc, let it load, select region, then play dvd, but it;s a small price to pay.
hope this helps.

http://www.techtronics.com/ sell region free PS2 players. not sure if you can send them your one and get them to mod it.
as mentioned above, just get a copy of AR2 or DVD Region X, ok, not automatic but a solution nonetheless

Strange... I've played R1 discs on my UK PS2 without any problem. Unless they've changed the firmware/hardware in the last year I don't think it actually performs any region checks... that or I just got lucky with the firmware version or something.
Bought the PS2 at Curry's, so I doubt it's an import.

You may find the PS2 is shipped region free then after XXX DVD's it becomes locked to a certain region. The creative labs PC DVD drives work in a similar way (Easy to unlock though). Careful it doesn't lock in an unpopular region.
