Default New MTB picked up

At last - I have an MTB with disk brakes and a suspension fork!

Picked it up yesterday -Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 2007 is very mean looking black - Very very nice (replaces 1997 Stumpy - fully rigid, V brakes, loads of upgrades) - The fork is superb - Fox jobby, and the brakes - Avid Juicy 5s, are a revelation! Weighs naff all too - Very nice!

Wife got here Specialized Globe IG8 too - Great hub gears (8 speed) and goes like the clappers on semi slicks!

Oh and we picked up our new 14.5ft speed boat = 60hp 2 stroke Mercury + small boat = major speed! Even had a swim in trunks too.

Happy days!

Sounds excellent Mattee !

I take it you got the "HT" (hardtail) ? Think it only weighs 24 lbs !

Been off road yet ? That Fox fork is s'pposed to be "as smooth as Lurpak" !!

Enjoy the new toy,

Andy

Andy - Bit of tame off roading - the disk brakes need bedding in a bit more.
Did indeed get the HT - feels lighter than my old (1997) fully rigid Stumpy with V brakes and a load of lighter parts fitted!
Fork is excellent - have to admit that I haven't tried many suspension forks but it seems to work a treat and is fully adjustable too.

The frame is a work of art too!

Also got this - to be share with wife (baby due in Nov so needed a city type bike) with proper mudguards and a rack. Carbon forks, 8 speed Nexus hub gears, goes like the clappers!

Grats on your purchase from another Specialized fan. Last week I bought a Rockhopper Disc for my girlfriend, and picked up something for myself - I've decided to return to road bikes after many years of mountain bikes.

It's a 2006 Specialized Allez Comp, in Team Gerolsteiner colours.

Nice one Iwan...exactly what is next on my list as soon as the office finally get the bike to work scheme up and running

Have run out of bike cash as this year has already seen these two additions..

To and from work:
Specialized Sirrus '07 (£399.95)

For after work:
Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc '07 (£949.95)

As you can tell, another Specialized fan ...reverted back after 6 years of hell with Cannondale and the world of Headshocks !!!

Same as myself!

Was a Cannondale man with my Super V, but me and my mates kept snapping the frames
Now most of us ride Specialized Enduros all tweaked up, very nice bikes the Enduros!

SiPie - Do you rate the Sirrus as I'm thinking about getting a bike for the daily commute? Not keen on leaving the Enduro lying around for thieving pickies

Granty

Usual Specialized story I'm afraid.....all the components (chainset, hubs & wheels..even rear derailleur) worn out over the winter (20miles every day) so I guess it may be worth speccing up to the Comp for slightly better components...

However, still a pretty quick bike and the geometry feels a nice balance for uk roads...tyres at 85psi front & 100psi rears seem to soak up most things but help maintain speed.

All in all .....a nice compromise giving you the handling of a mtb with near to road bike speed

Might be worth a look at the Globe too (see my above pic) - hell of a spec for £450 and it's a real flying machine!

This is my lot

From left: Ribble road bike used for the daily commute, the wife's Hardrock, My Cannondale M600, pimped out with carbon and used for hacking around the village and other less serious stuff. Finally, my '07 Stumpy FSR. Fooking love it! Great bike. Although I'm still waiting on the insurance company getting back to me after some sily bint reversed in to it and scratched the hell out of it and bent several bits
I've got a spec'd up Spesh Allez Double coming for which I need a campag wheelset. It will replace the Ribble as a day to day, all weather commuter (don't want to ruin the Ribble)

Paul.

I'm 6'1" so all frames are large

Si. Cleaned for the pictures (Insurance purposes)....although I do take pride in my toys.

My commuter is protected by a crust of filth and the state of Epping Forest at the moment means you can't see any metal at the end of each ride!

A bike that goes like the clappers? Does it have a really powerful engine?

I looked quite seriously at the Hardrock pro disk but coming from an old Stumpy, I HAD to have another plus I love Fox forks.

Got a bit of dirt on it now - off to polish it...

Phillip - My 2007 Comp has replaced this old battler!

Light, totally reliable but a bit of a vintage model now - keeping it for a spare.

I've got a stumpjumper compr FSR which was an insurance claim. I really wish I'd gone for a hard tail. I cant get to grips with the suspension side of things - it just seems to sap power for me and I dont do really hardcore downhill or anything.

Truth be told I feel a right prat riding round on it. Anyone fancy doing a swap of any description? I really would like a hard tail stumpjumper.

Worth a try, I keep meaning to try and sell it but the second hand value of these things doesnt seem to hold up very well.
