Calling all Rolex connoisseurs
Yesterday I had to make an urgent trip to St Tropez in France to deliver a watch for a friends client. I am not actually a big watch fan but the Rolex I was wearing was stunning and I am curious to find out what it was.
I have done a bit of research and have come up blank. I dont know if Rolex do bespoke models but the watch was of the Daytona style and heavily jewelled with diamonds. The face of the watch was what looked to me to be Diamond slivers. The circle around the dial was diamonds and the wings that hold the band had 3 rows of double diamonds going down to a Blue leather band. It was a 40mm model of white gold. The client made the comment when I delivered it to him that it was worth 86,000 Euro (roughly 60,000 quid)
can anyone identify what I was wearing or was it unique?

Yes you can get a platinum Rolex - when I was shopping for mine 15 years ago they had platinum ones at around £35k so god knows how much they'll be now. As for a schoolkid wearing one its highly doubtful - might be just a stainless one.
If it's not stainless, i hope he's got bodyguards. Would you send a kid to school with that much jewellery? Utterly ridiculous.
I love watches, which is why I hate to see a decent Rolex turned into a hideously tasteless bauble like that.

A platinum Rolex is about the same price as a gold one, ie £12-15k for a gents size. Sending a kid out with one of those is madness - he'll get his arm chopped off
Fakes start around 15 quid for quartz one (second hand moves in one-second jumps and Rolex don't use quartz movements) around £200-300 for a good fake with mechanical movement and sweeping second hand. It can take an expert to spot one of those.
Richard.
