Default Mobile Phone - unlocking it from O2

Hi all,

Ive got a sony ecric. phone which is tied to the O2 network. I want to use it on an orange network, but obviously orange sims dont work. What do I need to do ?? Someone at work mentioned getting it 'blown' ? Is there a web site I can go to, to then download the necessary code to clear the firmware ?

Cheers

no. It was a pay as you go phone, that I now want to use over on orange. I brought it on the weekend, boxed, for £40.

Ps you sure it's locked? O2 didn't tend to lock their phones.

From previous experience, I would say get it unlocked at a market or shop. The shop being the dearer option. It should be £5-£10 at a market, shops are normally £20+.
There is the option to do it yourself, although I've never heard it referred to as "blown". But to do that, you would have to buy the specific flashing cable (£15+), the supplied USB ones don't do that, and then learn how to use/locate the software to do it.
Its up to you though, but I'd get it done in minutes at a market.
