Congestion Charge
what a complet and utter con.
I was in Trafalger Square last week, which I entered after 11pm, I left the following morning at 8am, 2 weeks later I get a fine...
I left the Zone not entered it - this is such a scam, the ever bigger scam is the fact that you cant check on their website to see if you owe any congestion charge.
about time that fcukwit Livingston got the boot

But you were in it at the specified time.
Welcome to London
I used to work on Fleet Street and along with 100s of other people after a night shift would drive like a nutter to get past the cameras at King's Cross before 630am.
There were some hairy moments and plenty of crashes around there - all to beat the £5 charge as it was then.

Ah, but your £50 fine will be used to buy more of those double length buses, that don't fit in bus stops.
That way the back half can block any other traffic passing.
Thus allowing them to increase the congestion charge to help ease the situation.
Which funnily enough, will allow them to buy more of those poxy buses

The free bus, as they are commonly known.

Damn right, the blokes a ******* tos$er - he acts in the interests of the scrounging immigrant scum who live in London, never in the interests of the hardworking Londoners who bring in the money - many of whom live outside the city.

That's a very common thought in London.
Just look at the amount of true Londoners who leave every year to be replaced by non-UK incomers.

Why anyone in this day and age of hi-tech communications and excellent transport links wants to set up a business in a place like London bewilders me. Expensive property, expensive rates, expensive salaries There's plenty of small towns begging for companies to create jobs and offering incentives, locally and often from the EU. Cheap property, cheap rates, cheap people and backhanders on top. Let London decay. Hell, I don't even venture into Leeds city centre much and I'm only 4 miles from it. I can get all I want delivered to my door, usually cheaper. If they do a CC here that will be the end of it altogether, I would never set foot there again. As the business's close and the shoppers stop coming, where will the council get its money then

Last time I drove into London I paid my congestion charge before leaving.
Got a fine two weeks later at which point I'd noticed I'd got a single letter wrong on my reg plate - easily done as I'd only had the car a couple of days. I wrote back explaining I'd made an innocent mistake and enclosed a copy of my receipt.
Got a really snotty letter back saying they were going to let me off, but that I shouldn't make a mistake again. Sheesh, my apologies to London Transport for not being perfect
The online payment system should check your reg plate and could at worst say it exists, if not tell you what make/model of car is it (like the insurance/HPI checkers).

As someone who may be potentially living and working in central london next year...
Why, if your an able-bodied person, do you need to drive in Central London?
As someone from a rural area where walking a mile really isn't actually that far, I just don't understand why they just don't ban private cars from central london completely..
(waits to see people blow their tops.. )

Congestion charge is a pain, I really need to drive straight in, I travel from Wolverhampton by car, straight in, onto appropriate construction site, inspect a machine/crane, drive back home. I would not fancy carrying my full harness/safety boots/jacket/gloves/paperwork/hardhat! and trying to read a map whilt riding my bike, or walking carrying it all. THATS WHY I NEED TO DRIVE IN. Rant over.

(especially not walking from Wolverhampton! I meant walk from train/tube)
