After returning from holiday at about midnight on 24th Dec I drove for 70 miles round the M25 and came across about 6 other cars!!
Fantastic all 4 lanes to myself, but could not go above 80 mph just incase Mr plod was lurking about, when theres no one around you stick out like a sore thumb, so as nice as it was it had its draw backs.
Returned to work on Thursday and it crawled from Watford to Heathrow took over an hour, welcome back to reality!!!

Best journey I ever had on a motorway was on the M1 J28-12 at 9am on Jan 1st 2000. Had to drive home after the millenium celebrations. Saw 5 cars the whole 100 odd miles. I was running the scoob in so had to be careful, but it was a safe bet that all the police were tucked up in bed after keeping the peace on Millenium eve.
Fantastic drive, it was like it is at 2am but in sunshine

I did something similar last year coming back from Stockport cruise. 4am down the M1 and it was dead. I went for an hour without seeing another car. Kept it at 85 though

I did Sheffield (Don Valley Stadium) to Bracknell at 0700h New Years Day over the Millenium and the m1/m42/m40 were a dream.
Made it in just over 2 hours, sticking to all the speed limits of course.
