Jail inmates to be released early
Interesting story
BBC NEWS | UK | Jail inmates 'to be freed early'
Upto 2000 prisoners could get released early as they aren't considered a threat
So two thirds of released prisoners are reconvicted within 2 years, and they think its a good idea to release a load of them early
Specifically the Drug Dealers, Burglars and Fraudsters, basically the ones who rip us off the most could get early release
Sort of makes you think that you can commit these crimes and then not really get punished for them

BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair 'regret' on prison releases
Mr Blair said: "I regret having had to do it, but it was necessary to do it."
.... he didn't add that the reason was that they had ignored warnings from years before about prison overcrowding ... Basically, it was his fault!

LOL
Hasn't he seen a pattern of increasing crime levels since he has been in power then?
What has he done to alleviate that? release prisoners early, makes sense really as the figures then go down for numbers of inmates in prison
Now, has crime really gone up or are more people getting caught and convicted, or have they been slowly closing prisons down
so they plan on releasing 5,000 prisoners and by the previous story they reckon 2/3rds are reconvicted within 2 years, so that means approx 3,500 ex cons will re-offend causing an increase in crime rates again
But by the time they are caught, re convicted and re-sentenced they can opt not to send them back to jail as there won't be any room

So then
Letting out Drug dealers and thieves early.
Do they (the government) not se the connection between drugs and thieft to pay for drugs.
Do they not realise that short prison terms do not allow druggies to get off of drugs
So then
Drug pdealers are not serious criminals then - news to me
Drugs are the scourge of this country!
I f**king hate NL and what they are doing to this country.
Lack of prison laces ahs ben an issue for a while, not like this si a new proble - just ignored.
NL jail more people and longer sentences (according to them)- what the f**k did they think was going to happen - that we would need the same or less prison places.
Another stable door bolted way too late - Morons

New Labour: Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime.
As long as it's motoring related, that is..........
There were a list of "Before the courts" in last week's rag. The first was a guy who had two counts of burglary, two counts of not surrendering to bail and one count of not being in accordance with his previous sentence: probation. He got another probation.
After him was a bloke speeding. HE got £300 fine PLUS three points and £150 costs against him.
Disgusting.

we have a this week in court in the local paper
Usually the same old names, and offences, shoplifting, burglary, assualt, drugs
most of them end up with suspended sentences, or repeat offenders (by repeat I mean 9th or 10th repeated offence) they usually get a month in jail
the rest stay free on the streets to continually re-offend

Execute all the dangerous criminals ie serious sex offenders, murderers, and peodophiles. Surely that will free up some space.
Those with life sentences are a waste of space anyway.
