Did he?

No... Doddy!

Ah...no... wait. That's the "Ken Dodd died at the weekend" joke.

I know a journo in Manchester he knew him well and he apparently did a hell of a lot for charity, I met him (as did J4cko's mate), seemed a nice fella, very fashionable to bash his ilk, he was an old man who's act was rooted in the sixties northern working mans club circuit and he didn't really adapt.

I dont think he actually hated anyone, an equal opportunities **** taker though I do accept he was a million miles away from what is acceptable these days, but then, nothing is acceptable these days.

Darcus Howe went to his club in Manchester and watched one of his performances, he actually found him to be quite funny. He was a fairly big (in more ways than one) star in his hey day but as Jacko says never adapted his material. His interview on the Mrs. Merton Show was hilarious especially his arguing with Richard Wilson.

I saw him in 1989.

Literally no one in the audience moved for fear of becoming a victim - almost pissed myself, in both senses.

Very funny man.

Gutted he has gone - A very funny man who said things as he saw them.

A few years ago he did a Sportsmans Dinner after dinner comedy set I was at and afterwards we had a brief chat, the outcome being he shook my hand and told me I was "a F@cking Sound Lad"
Yep he had me sussed and a lot of other characters and walks of life...

RIP fella

An Englishman, a Cuban, a Japanese and a Pakistani were all on a train. The Cuban threw a fine Havana cigar out of the window, explaining: ‘They are 10 a penny in my country’. The Japanese threw out a Nikon camera, adding ‘These are 10 a penny in my country’. The Englishman then picked up the Pakistani and threw him out, telling the others: ‘They are 10 a penny in my country’.”
