Just pay and get the proper one. It's a tiny amount compared to thousands that the car will cost. You 'might' be lucky and someone here will run one for you, however there will be no-come back. the benefit of the proper hpi is that they guarantee to the purchaser (i.e NOT you if someone else does it) what the report finds etc.
Just haggle £40 or whatever off the asking price if you're really skintos.

The cars only to 2k but its 200 mile away all I want is bit of info about to see if its worth drivin that far, if I did see it it would get a full report and RAC check while I was there.

Or I believe there is a company for a one of fee and gives you 3 hpi checks as I only have the reg at the moment............
