DCI - Its a life skill
Some people are just uncomfortable speaking infront of other people and to kids it can be very daunting so let them sit quietly and absorb information from the other square bears who ask all the questions

The military has a system of Question - Pause - Nominate when instructing.
This is supposed to keep everyone on their toes because they don't know who is going to be called upon to answer the question. I usually deliberately pick the quiet ones. Sticking hands up or shouting out the answer is usually not allowed because the same know-it-alls always stick their hands up and you don't get a good feel as to whether the whole group has actually taken on board what you've just taught them.

Teachers should hand out clips round the ears to quiet kids, that would soon sort them out
Seriously, these headline grabbing quirks of political mumbo jumbo are pitiful distractions from the real issues affecting our green and pleasant hills...
It makes a change from lies about climate change, banning things and taxing things just so everyone picks up on and dicsusses the latest story, rather than keep on getting madder and madder at the ineptitude of our political leaders...

Apparently they are now being told to issue weekend detentions to pupils, and will also be allowed to use 'some' contact with pupils
None of the teachers are overly happy about the weekend stuff and will not be issuing detentions during weekends
