Default M4 speed cameras

I've a friend who went to Cornwall last weekend via the M4 and drove a bit quicker than he should have done

I've told him that there are SPECS camers along the M4, but I don't know where.

So, where are they, are they operating, what speed do you tend to get 'done' at, etc etc

Thanks all

J14 to J18 methinks

9MPH over triggers specs usually, but I stand corrected

The SPECS that were between Membury and Swindon are gone now, there may be some west of Jnct 16 someone may confirm.

However there are scameras on bridges between Membury (East) and Chippenham (West), parked on bridges from time to time. Don't seem to do much to help the accident rate along there though.

There are some (and maybe more) starting at the A329(M) near Reading going westbound (dounno where they end or if they are both sides). They are there for roadworks and are pretty hard to miss. There are even lots of signs signs saying average speed check along with speed limit signs.

If your friend managed to go through all that without spotting it, may I politely suggest he hands his driving licence in at the first opportunity.

Thanks all,

Okay, I understood that they were still working.

Yeah, I've seen a few scamera vans myself on the bridges.

Agreed I'll let him know.

9mph over the limit - guess he'll have to keep clenched for the next 14 days then

The ones at Reading are between J10-12 both ways... average speed cameras and the speed is set at 50mph...

My other half may have been caught by these a couple of weeks ago - was in a company car so the NIP will take longer to come through

However, if your 'mate' was changing lanes, overtaking etc between the 2 junctions, the cameras may not have caught him ( according to someone in 'the know')..
