Question

Hi all,

I was just answering an earlier thread when I thought of something that's always intrested me, namely the difference between my driving and that of a top F1 or rally driver.

Before you all get I'm not about to say I'm anyhing great, but I just wondered how slow a car one of these top guy's (even girl's) could go in to beat me in my 996 C4 on the track. I bet something like a Golf GTI 1.8T would be enough .

Anyway, just wnated to ask if anyone had experience with this sort of idea.

I'd be intrested to know the differences in times if we had the same car as well !!!

One of those race prepared 2CV's could beat me.

Others that spring to mind
Schumacher in a C5.
Paul Tracey in a dustcart.
Burns on a mountain bike.
Max Biaggi on a go-ped.

Went round Pembrey a few years ago with a BTCC driver (Patrick Watts) in some Peugeot 405 or the like, and I'm sure he was faster round there in that (4 up) than a bunch of us novices in Caterhams...

a friend of mine who used to race in the got hatch challenge in a mk1 golf won some competition to taken out by Tim Harvey.

He says it was so far above his level it was scary.

He'd go flying into his own braking zones (in a road car) and still noit be touching the middle pedal, by now every fibre in my friends body was screaming BRAKE!

he was never a fan of Harvey but two laps certainly gave him a lot more respect for the guy.

Tim's a very good driver, especially considering the accident he had early in his career. He seemed more comfortable with RWD than FWD though.
