Whilst the couple from Doncaster where good fun and a bit larger than life at least they seemed decent enough, if not a bit sad with thier own Kareoke room but eah to their own.

The other couple
HGim - no *****, no personality, no idea how to have fun. about as wet as a haddocks wet bits
Her, Mad as a bad of frogs, no redeeming features and agressive in nature, and the pair - complete hypocrites, chickens in small pen - organic my *** and that LR3 the natural choice of every eco conscious person on the planet - what a farce, he claimed they needed it to tow the caravan.
Eco when it suits warriors

As for the allegations of sexual harrasment, did not see enough to form an opinion based on what was show but seriously doubt it was more than a few drunk friends having a laugh.
I feel sorry for the kids of the family from Wiltshire...

good fun entertianment

As long as they use the caravan for all their holidays and dont fly then they will have easily offset the carbon usage of the LR3.

Cheers

Hi Lee,

But not everyone flies for their holidays anyway, do you really need a BIG 4x4 to occasionally tow a caravan, will a car not do?

If they can tyake the time to clean the loos with lemon and bi-carb then they cannot buy smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles which have an even better carbon footprint surely?

As the mr ball-less was going out he took the LR3 instead of the Diesel BM 1 series also parked on their drive...

Dragging a house around on the roads cannot be eco-friendly.

Why not get a tent instead ?

The girl was right - the bloke was as best trying to be "trendy" but was probably just doing what he was told by his nagging fruitcake wife

Didn't see the program so can't directly comment on the people themselves.

As for a saloon car it depends on the size and age of the van. Modern caravans are heavy, even mid-sized 17' family caravans can weigh over 1500kg which would be a 100% match for something like a Mondeo. Although legal that's way above the recommended 85%.
Something higher spec, bigger or twin axle is definitely going to need a 4X4, commercial vehicle or big luxury saloon.

Cheers

A tent may be a bit too much of a compromise for most people, especially if you are getting on a bit.

A mid European flight holiday has ten times the carbon footprint than a 1000 mile caravan holiday towed with a mid sized diesel 4X4.
Compare a UK caravan holiday with a long haul flight and you can be talking 50 times the carbon footprint.
(Data from The Caravan Club and Friends of the Earth)

Thanks Lee,

It just grates on me, two cars on the drive, one small and economical the other a large 4x4 and he took the 4x4. they, (the couple) talked the talk, yet ran two cars, one a BIG 4x4 LR3, 4x4's just do not get much bigger or use much more fuel in either diesel or petrol forms, they weight 2+tonnes (from memory of an old TG) thier Guicci socialist eco freinds turned up for dinner, in what, another 4x4. Perhaps they are all members of the same caravan club

How about a hotel ?

Or a static caravan somewhere.

They got found out and spineless Mr under_the_thumb threw his toys out of the pram

I still find it hard to justify dragging a house round the country by people who claim to be concerned about the environment .

I reckon the bloke was just "playing at it" to try and get into the knickers of his other mate's wife

Nearly 2.7 Tonne for a high specced diesel auto.
But has less CO2 output than an Impreza STi.

Cheers

2.7 tonnes - **** me!

The point (for me anyway) is that he (Captain plum-less) took the LR3, not the BM when going out which just smack of hypocracy (having seen how they try to portray themselves) The BM 1 series is a good car and capable of seating 3+ people so why not take that?

Still i drive a Pug Diesel (usually like driving miss daisy) @ 46+MPG (and i turn my tv from standby to off at night)

Yep, he has no enviro credentials left after doing that.

I currently have a 2.2 tonne Jeep with a 2.8litre diesel in it but it does about a tenth of the milage of my Mondeo TDCi.
I'm not trying to be green it's just 50mpg is a lot cheaper than 20mpg, and the Mondeo's a better drive.

Cheers

Their house was big enough to accomodate 8, if they were complete eco warriors they would be living in a hut somewhere.
The programme makers sure know how to pick `em

Not wanting to be Devil's Advocate or anything but it's a clear case of clever editing and emotive subject usage to get the masses frothing at the mouth.

Pretty much all programmes are victim to this, i have done it myself. No did not feel like it, some of the 'takes' were complete, not cut up to suit.

Let me explain

A 'take' for the puposes of this, is a exchange from start to end. if it is not cut about then it shows pretty much what went on.

It is just fly on the wall TV, who really cares

It was fun and entertianing and left me feeling like the couple from Wiltshire were pretty unlikeable and hypocritical.
