Default The Dogs looking a bit ropey

Our 14 year old Spaniel, star of many a thread, blind, deaf, smelly and thick has recently taken a turn for the worst, she is struggling to get up (legs giving way), shaking and generally looking 'doddery' having been fairly nimble up to last weekend, will take her to the vets but any opinions as to whats gone wrong ?

Its looking like a final trip to the vets may be looming.

Same thing happened to our Spaniel at 15. Old age I'm afraid.

Look at it this way, you've had a good 2 years more than most pedigree owners get, look on them as a bonus It will be for the best if she's suffering

My, however it turns out, my sympathy is with you, my beloved, fcukwitted, deaf English Setter's liver started failing at 12, I can honestly say it was the hardest decision I've ever made in my 36 years on God's earth

I don't 'hate' her, I just get a bit sick of her stinking the house out, costing money, smegging the carpers, buggering off at every opportunity, eating dead rabbits, scratching the doors, getting in the way etc

She seems to have rallied, I think she is just teasing me !

It's a shame that your "Mrs Brady" is coming to the end of her life. Chin up, mate.

Sorry to here mate. My cat collapsed last year, back legs and it was the liver.
She was born 2 weeks after me and we were brought up together. Mind you 27 wasn't a bad innings. Still got 2 of her (Kittens) 12 and 14. Her Mate died at 18.
Like losing a member of the family, still pride of place under an apple tree in the garden.

27? FFS, are you sure she wasn't crossed with a tortoise? I've never heard of a cat that old. Condolences, BTW.

You have to take the poor bugger to the vets. Make a decision. Rallying (not in the car for any of you sodding idiots!) Is what they tend to do before they pass away. Would be better to go peacefully than in pain IMHO.

27 is phenomenal for a cat, most seem to conk out at 16-18. Having said that, our vet reckons the life expectancy of a cat born today will be 30+ .

My cat died at just over 12 years old, but she was knocked down

My sisters cat was put down last week, around 14-15 years old, she became diabetic, and this ultimately caused her death, my mum still has her two cats though, and they are around 12 years old maybe longer

She was just a bog standard moggy, born to a feral cat that my grandad adopted. Never new who the dad was!!. Probably about 20 of them.

My british short black cat is 23 years old as far as we can estimate. He is very fit and real character. It is hard to imagine life without him around the place. I just hope that when his time comes it will be quick and painless and that he does not have to be put down by the vet. I could not bear to have him killed, I would rather he lives out his full life and in a good way.

I hope your nutter of a spaniel has rallied J4CKO, I reckon you would feel as bad as I would about it.

Les
